Alternative Treatment International, Inc. in Clearwater, Florida, Receives Joint Commission Accreditation

Alternative Treatment International, Inc., in Clearwater, Florida, announces receipt of National Accreditation by the Joint Commission for its innovative, non-12-step, residential treatment program for substance abuse and psycho-emotional disorders.

Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) June 1, 2007 -- Alternative Treatment International, Inc., in Clearwater, Florida, announces receipt of National Accreditation by the Joint Commission for its innovative, non-12-step, residential treatment program for substance abuse and psycho-emotional disorders.

According to Dr. Alan Meyers, "At A.T.I., our philosophy is to examine all aspects of the individual's life in a clinical and holistic way to determine the best course of action to treat the whole person, and uncover and resolve the problem. This is enhanced by employing Perception Therapy® and Mind-Body-Spirit-Environment® techniques which are designed to raise the therapeutic arsenal currently in use. We believe that the answers do not lie in behaviors but in the thinking that produces the behaviors. Therefore, we accept our patients' current behaviors in a non-judgmental, compassionate way and take an indirective approach to changing perception and thinking, rather than the standard direct approach aimed at changing behaviors. Treating only the behavior does not address the cause of the problem as behaviors do not just happen by themselves. Thought (the Mind) produces behaviors as well as emotions, both being positive and negative."

Since 1971, the Joint Commission has been evaluating organizations that provide mental health, chemical dependency, mental retardation/developmental disabilities services and other psychosocial services. In 1997 it began evaluating behavioral health care networks under our managed behavioral health care standards. It began surveying foster care agencies in January 2000. As of January 1, 2001, the chemical dependency standards have been expanded to substance abuse, chemical dependency and other addictive behaviors, such as gambling.

Joint Commission accreditation is the most recognized seal of approval for behavioral health care providers. Accreditation helps behavioral health care organizations improve their performance, raise the level of care to clients, demonstrate accountability and increase participation in managed care and other contracted arrangements.

The Joint Commission currently accredits 1,643 behavioral health care providers. All surveys are conducted by highly experienced behavioral health care professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, behavioral health care nurses and mental health administrators.

Through the creation of an innovative, non-12-step, residential treatment program for substance abuse and psycho-emotional disorders Alternative Treatment International, Inc. is honored that they have received Joint Commission accreditation. This is a major milestone for A.T.I. as a substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment facility.
