New York, NY (PRWEB) June 19, 2007 -- From a record 10,000 submissions, By Kids For Kids Co. is proud to announce the grand prize winners of the 3rd Annual “Invent-a-Toy” World Games. The competition aimed to ignite the imaginative and entrepreneurial spirit of America’s kids, and to empower all kids to create the future toys and games “they really want.” Mattel (NYSE: MAT) was the presenting sponsor of the competition.
With the Licensing International Expo serving as an exciting backdrop, three (3) talented young inventors received their grand prizes and awards today during an exclusive ceremony and press conference.
The 2007 “Invent-a-Toy” World Games grand prize winners are:
- Edsel Boler – Aged 8, from Richardson, TX. Eddie invented Xoomball - a game using air pumps, ping pong balls and a specially designed game board with holes. The object of the game is to blow the ping pong balls using the air pumps just the right way to get the balls into the holes.
- Brooke Rogers – a kindergartner from Wilton, CA. Brooke invented Kipsy's Campfire Campout at the age of 4. Her invention is a toy campfire that kids can play with indoors, so you can go camping even when it is raining. Battery operated; this luminous indoor campfire features sound effects like owls and crackling fires. It also has a recording device in so you can record your own voice (and those of your family and friends) singing campfire songs.
- Russell Moore - Aged 13, from Trumbull, CT. Waterworks Building Toy is Russell’s invention. His invention is a set of pipes and tubes and connections that kids can use to build a structure to send water through. Russell is a “serial inventor,” and defying incredible odds, was also a winner in last year’s “Invent-A-Toy” competition for his “Water Tag” invention.
Past national winners Taylor Hernandez and Ana Lingenfelder were award presenters this year. Ms. Hernandez’s “Magic Sponge Blocks” was licensed by the Foamables Company and will be commercially available later this year. Ana Lingenfelder won the competition last year for her “Hands On Hand Clap” game, which has garnered interest from several potential licensees.
The Grand Prize Winners of the 2007 “Invent-A-Toy” World Games competition were awarded a licensing contract from BKFK, legal support to patent the invention in the winner’s name (if patentable), professional expertise to bring the product to market, and a $5,000 US savings bond.
Additionally, each winner had the opportunity to identify an inspirational or supportive teacher, and that special teacher received a $1,000 US savings bond, courtesy of BKFK.
“We’re thrilled to be back at the Licensing Show with Mattel honoring yet more talented young inventors!” said Norman Goldstein, BKFK Founder and CEO. “Eddie, Brooke and Russell dazzled us today with their new toy ideas, and we look forward to helping these young people turn their dreams into real products in the marketplace.”
