Unleashed Lions Descend Upon Gotham: Roaring Leo Productions Launches Several Film and TV Projects for Fall

New TV/film production company, Roaring Leo Productions (www.roaringleo.com), attacks upcoming Fall with full slate.

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 5, 2007 -- Fresh after a year in operation as an interactive agency, Roaring Leo Productions (www.roaringleo.com) has launched several film and television projects for this upcoming season. This new lions-cage is the work of film director Chuck Griffith (Thank You, Good Night) and Marketing Wunderkind John Hershberger.

The king of the Hollywood jungle is developing five television projects, producing work for MTV, and prepping for Griffith's second feature film, "Shifting the Canvas", starring Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall), John Paul Pitoc (Trick), and Patrick David (Walking through Egypt).

While we do focus on developing our own projects internally, we also seek to be the most talented house of creative services on the planet
"Our mission is to jump on a 'creative class movement' and produce high quality projects such as 'Shifting'. However, we don't stop there. We have four cooking shows for something like Food Network or Bravo that don't come from the same Betty Crocker mold. We think high concept and empowerment. Gen-Y is all grown up from a world that told them they can do anything. It's not about showing them 'how-to', it's about showing them 'how to do it better'. We're creating the Borne Ultimatum of cooking shows--helicopters, cruise ships, international locales, and action-packed culinary excitement" said Griffith about Roaring Leo's TV slate.

Roaring Leo Productions started last year when Griffith decided to distribute his directorial debut, "Thank You, Good Night", after the previous distributor went bankrupt. After that DVD was released for retail and rental, Roaring Leo Productions was hired by Pokemon USA to produce Pokemon Learning League, an interactive children's educational experience. Then, MTV Networks has reportedly asked Roaring Leo to service production needs for one of their flagship reality TV shows.

"While we do focus on developing our own projects internally, we also seek to be the most talented house of creative services on the planet," assured Hershberger, Chief Operations Officer and Producer. Hershberger, who comes from five years of brand management for a Fortune 500 company, also serves as Griffith's manager.

Griffith, who has had twelve years of advertising and marketing experience in addition to his film directing days, said, "Some people like to lock you in a box and say, 'He's a film guy or he's just a web guy.' What I tell them is that we're post-modern thinkers and doers. We creatively tackle projects that we know we can make commercially successful. It has taken a few years, but we've seasoned ourselves to put our best work out there."

Roaring Leo also targets its audience by identifying niche subject matter that is relevant to a certain group. In November, the distribution arm will release a short-film compilation of award-winning Asian-American films on DVD. Griffith, an openly gay male, will be developing a gay-themed reality series called "My Gay ID", which trails men and women in their first 90 days after coming out of the closet. "Shifting the Canvas", a dramatic feature Griffith will be directing next, is a gay-themed story set in Brooklyn, New York.

"I'm tired of gay entertainment meaning you have to lower your expectations on value," Griffith added. "We are committed to all forms of genre's but, personally, I felt a big need to do something like 'Canvas' because I think it will entertain while boldly asking the viewer to think."

Where does the name "Roaring Leo" come from? The company's heads say that it was because Griffith, himself, is a astrological Leo and he's inspired by the reinvention of other lions like Bill Clinton and Madonna.

Roaring Leo is also developing two action films and Griffith's third feature film, "Crowded Spaces", a political story about madness and space in Manhattan.

Roaring Leo Productions, a privately held company, is headquartered in New York City. Chuck Griffith serves as Chief Creative Officer and John Hershberger serves as Chief Operations Officer. It offers production, marketing, and distribution services for commercial and independent projects.

"Shifting the Canvas" is a motion picture being produced by Deeper Magic Communications and Robert Zimmer, Jr. It will star John Paul Pitoc, Scott Thompson, Patrick David, and Edward Singletary. It is set for production mid-October and does not currently have a distributor attached.

"Thank You, Good Night", starring Mark Hamill, Christian Campbell, Nicole Eggert, and J.P. Pitoc, is a motion picture available now on DVD. Soundtrack is exclusively available on iTunes.

Chuck Griffith studied at Columbia University and St. Johns University (MN). He won the jury prize for best feature in 2002 and has produced interactive projects for Fortune 100 companies.

John Hershberger is a brand management executive and is the Chief Operations Officer of Roaring Leo Productions.
