CSA Travel Protection Spotlights Travel Insurance, New Passport Rules, Ski Season and Wave Season

CSA Travel Protection encourages consumers to "travel well and travel wisely," and in that spirit, offers up its Consumer TraveList, a periodic roundup of important travel notes and seasonal happenings. Equally important, the Consumer TraveList identifies how travel insurance enhances and safeguards vacations.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 15, 2007 -- CSA Travel Protection ushers in 2007 with a reminder to winter vacationers -- particularly, skiers, snowboarders and cruise-takers -- to strongly consider buying travel insurance. The ongoing potential for heightened airport security and wild winter weather patterns, requires business and leisure travelers to adapt to unpredictable circumstances. Plus, sudden, unforeseen medical situations (e.g., a child's sickness before a trip, personal health emergency during a trip) can also impact a vacation. It's when such unexpected events arise, that travel insurance can spare vacationers their investment in non-refundable airfare, trip packages or other arrangements.

travel well and travel wisely
CSA encourages consumers to travel well and travel wisely, and in that spirit, offers up its Consumer TraveList, a periodic roundup of important travel notes and seasonal happenings. Equally important, the Consumer TraveList identifies how travel insurance enhances and safeguards vacations. Here's what's happening in January 2007:

1. New Passport Rules. Beginning on January 23, 2007, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative takes effect, making passports a requirement for airline passengers. CSA Travel Protection is helping travelers make this important transition for future trips, providing current Department of State rules, as well as 9 Useful Passport Tips.

2. Skiers and Snowboarders: Insure Your Trip! Denver's snowstorms already have caused flight delays and cancellations for those hitting the slopes at Colorado ski resorts. Meanwhile, many snow sports enthusiasts know that lack of packed powder and unseasonably warm weather has meant late openings and limited use at some Northeast ski resorts. Amidst such unexpected circumstances, individuals would benefit from CSA's Freestyle or Freestyle Luxe plans, and ski/snowboard clubs of 10-plus people would benefit from the CSA Group Guarantee(tm) plan. These plans each protect 100% of prepaid non-refundable trip costs in the event of cancellation and 150% in the event of interruption. However, if your plans aren't "terminated," and instead, an injury occurs -- as was the case with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's recent ski accident -- CSA's medical coverages are portable to the traveler's destination. By contrast, certain healthcare insurance plans won't service travelers beyond local coverage areas.

3. Cruise-Takers: Wave Season Begins. January though March is "Wave Season," the busiest booking period for cruise ship travel. Whether it's a Caribbean cruise from the Disney Cruise Terminal in Orlando or an increasingly popular short cruise vacations to Mexico from the San Diego Cruise Ship terminal, CSA Travel Protection plans safeguard against loss of pre-paid, non-refundable expenses. Another reason to buy: peace of mind while traveling. According to the 2006 Consumer Survey conducted by the United States Travel Insurance Association, more than 70 percent of all cruise passengers buy travel insurance.

Travelers can visit the CSA Web site to get a quick quote and view plan details of essential features, including: medical-related coverages (Freestyle Luxe offers coverage for pre-existing medical conditions), 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services, Concierge Services and Identity Theft Protection.
