Complex Magazine Forced to Retract Improper Statements Regarding Hip Hop Weekly Magazine

After an attorney for Hip Hop Weekly served Complex magazine last week with a cease and desist letter demanding that Complex remove its online story accusing Hip Hop Weekly of plagiarism and other defamatory statements, the article was immediately removed and no longer appears on the Complex website.

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 26, 2007 -- After an attorney for Hip Hop Weekly served Complex magazine last week with a cease and desist letter demanding that Complex remove its online story accusing Hip Hop Weekly of plagiarism, as well as making other defamatory statements, the article was immediately removed and no longer appears on the Complex website. "Hip Hop Weekly is a fresh start for me and my business partner, and we have no beef with Complex or any other publications; however, the statements made about us on their website were false and defamatory and we are pleased that they have promptly removed that material," said David Mays, co-founder of Hip Hop Weekly.

Hip Hop Weekly co-founders, Dave Mays and Raymond "Benzino" Scott have more than 18 years experience in publishing, having created The Source magazine--the first magazine/multi-media outlet to focus solely on hip hop--from Mays's dorm room at Harvard University in 1988. Hip Hop Weekly, their newest venture, is a glossy celebrity weekly published every two weeks and now on stands nationally at supermarkets and convenience stores such as 7Eleven, Walgreen, Rite Aid, Walmart, Kmart, Pathmark and airport magazine retailers in the US, the UK and Canada. The magazine covers celebrity news, music, film, TV, fashion and sports from the perspective of the tens of millions of young Americans who identify with hip hop culture.

Hip Hop Weekly is a fresh start for me and my business partner, and we have no beef with Complex or any other publications; however, the statements made about us on their website were false and defamatory and we are pleased that they have promptly removed that material
