New Controversial Movie Attempts To Solve the World's Problems

The critically-acclaimed film, The Genius Club, written and directed by Tim Chey, opens in selected movie theaters on November 2, 2007 in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 12, 2007 -- The critically-acclaimed film, The Genius Club, written and directed by Tim Chey, opens in selected movie theaters on November 2, 2007 in Los Angeles. The film is already stirring controversy and interest around the world as it touches on the hotbed issues facing the world today and is fast becoming the most explosive movie in a decade.

The film is about 7 geniuses who are forced to solve the world's problems in one night by a madman with a button on a nuclear warhead. The film has garnered praise and criticism as it tackles the controversies of our world and addresses the 'cultural war' that is taking place in America. The film screened at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and was picked up by Canada, Australia, Japan, Mexico, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, and other countries. The film's website has drawn over 3 million impressions.

Directed by Tim Chey, a Harvard alumnus, 'The Genius Club' is a no-holds bar, sock 'em fight fest without the punches. Instead, the geniuses fight for their lives intellectually and try to solve issues like why we don't have a cure for cancer.

"My cousin died of cancer," says Chey. "I watched her die the most excruciating death without enough morphine. I vowed to do something to wake people up to finding a cure."

This led Chey on an odyssey to find real answers to the world's problems. Chey then decided to frame the movie in one night. "'Why not in one night?' I thought," says Chey. "It would be perfect for the fast food generation." And so he thus embarked on writing the script that he finished in one year.

The geniuses discuss war, world hunger, jerks, casinos, capitalism, gas prices, bill collectors, and a host of other eclectic topics. Nothing is left to chance.

"People tell me all the time," says Chey, "how much they enjoy watching the characters finally revealing their true selves and their hidden pasts as the night goes on."

The Genius Club was the #2 independent film in Mexico City the weekend of September 21, 2007. The toughest film critics gave our film a thumbs up, with Milenio newspaper giving 'The Genius Club' 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The distinguished cast includes: Carol Abney, Stephen Baldwin, Jacob Bonnema, Tricia Helfer, Matt Medrano, Philip Moon, Paula Jai Parker, Huntley Ritter, Jack Scalia, and Tom Sizemore.

The film is produced by Arch Bonnema and Daishi Takiishi.

'THE GENIUS CLUB' will expand into more theaters by early next year.
