TECORE and TCOM to Demonstrate Tri-Mode Rapidly Deployable Airborne Emergency Cellular Communications System

TECORE and TCOM under US Army contract will demonstrate emergency cellular network for use immediately following disaster strikes enabling first responders to rapidly mount rescue and relief efforts.

Columbia, MD (PRWEB) October 17, 2007 -- TECORE® Wireless Systems, a leading provider of 3G and next-generation wireless systems, and TCOM, L.P., a world-leading provider of weather-hardened, survivable, tethered aerostat systems, have received a contract from the United States Army and will give a live demonstration of their Tri-Mode Airborne Rapid Deployment Cellular System in Elizabeth City, NC, in March of next year. Additional information and invitations for the demonstration will be available at TECORE's booth at MILCOM 2007 in Orlando, FL. The innovative multi-technology solution combines TECORE's Rapid Response mini-cellular system and a newly designed airborne payload with TCOM's mobile 17M® aerostat to quickly deploy a wide area cellular coverage umbrella providing initial voice and data connectivity and tactical communications in response to emergency situations.

Available in a variety of configurations, TECORE's Rapid Response System simultaneously supports GSM, CDMA and EV-DO wireless voice and data services, using the industry's first multi-technology Mobile Switching Center all of which are contained in two tactical cases. The RF payload and antenna system is deployed on TCOM's 17M® tactical aerostat at an altitude of 1,000 feet, providing unobstructed cellular coverage areas of over 600 square miles. The complete system can be deployed in less than two hours, and can interface with local telecommunications and/or satellite facilities to provide integrated reach back services. The demonstration of the airborne system at TCOM's Manufacturing and Flight Test Facility in Elizabeth City, NC, is scheduled for March 2008.

TECORE is exhibiting its wireless solutions for government and military communications at MILCOM 2007, being held October 29 - 31, 2007 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida. To obtain invitations for attending the demonstration, please visit TECORE at MILCOM, Booth 1129. Alternatively, you can contact TCOM at bdial@tcomlp.com and/or TECORE at media@tecore.com.
