The West Coast's Largest New Year's Eve Celebration Makes Big Moves for Orange Drop Extravaganza

San Juan Capistrano, Calif (PRWEB) October 19, 2007 -- Preparations are getting underway for the third annual New Year's Eve extravaganza known as Orange County New Year's Eve (OCNYE) presented by title sponsor KORBEL Champagne. Organizers are excited to announce that the "Orange Drop" celebration will be expanding to a new location which will offer over 40 acres of fun, nestled in the heart of South Orange County. The festivities will be held at The Oaks Blenheim Event Center in San Juan Capistrano on Monday, December 31, from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

"The new location allows OCNYE to serve a pocket of over 3 million Southern Orange County residents and generate interest into San Diego," said Rich Goodwin, executive director of OCNYE. "People have said OCNYE is a West Coast version of Times Square, so the decision for our changes also allows for growth and upgrades to the festival-style event." Launched in 2005, OCNYE is dubbed "The Official Party of the O.C." and has generated celebrity and national media attention as the largest New Year's event on the West Coast.

This year's expansion includes a "Taste of Orange County" which will feature menus from celebrity chefs and the best restaurants in town. Guests can also experience a number of party zones where they can hop from DJ's spinning inside the Heineken Ultra Lounge, test the mechanical bull at Country Thunder, go wild with party beads at Southern Comfort's Bourbon Street, or stop for refreshment at the DosXX Cantina and fabulous Wine Country.

For the music lover, OCNYE will host stages featuring the best in country, jazz, alternative, reggae, rock and more. Set to perform on the main stage are gold-selling, synth pop group, Berlin, The English Beat and the Psychedelic Furs. Headliner Third Eye Blind whose hits include "Semi-Charmed Life," "Graduate," and "Never Let You Go," is making a special Southern California appearance only at OCNYE. Recently, VH1 chose "Semi-Charmed Life" as one of the "100 Greatest Songs of the 90's." The modern rock chart-toppers will lead spectators just before the stroke of midnight into the famous "Orange Drop" countdown where an amazing array of fireworks and lasers dance behind a glowing Orange that descends to welcome the New Year. Other stages include some indie favorites such as Common Sense and The Shy's, plus a number of tribute bands that honor No Doubt (No Duh), Oingo Boingo (Dead Man's Party), Flock of 80's and Sublime (LBC). More bands will be added leading up to the big event.
