PhotoWorks Offers Flickr Users New Ways to Enjoy Their Photos

PhotoWorks' Image Import feature allows users to create, share and sell photo gifts using their images from Flickr*.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 8, 2007 -- PhotoWorks®, Inc. (OTCBB:PHTW), an Internet-based personal publishing company and photography community, today announced that it is offering Flickr* users new ways to enjoy images they store and share on the service. By using PhotoWorks' new image import feature, PhotoWorks customers can easily create photo gifts - including photo books, cards, calendars and other keepsakes - using their images from Flickr.

Users can get started by visiting PhotoWorks.com and clicking on any "Upload Photos" link on the site. There they will be presented with a new option to import their images from Flickr. Next, users will be asked to sign into Flickr and authorize PhotoWorks to access their Flickr images, at which point they can select any images in their Flickr photo archives to import into a PhotoWorks album using a simple interface. In addition to browsing, users can find photos by searching the tags and photo sets they have already created on Flickr, making it easy to track down the exact images they are looking for.

It's all too easy for hard drives or storage sites to become the digital equivalent of the shoebox, where photos are kept but not looked at. By allowing users to create photo gifts from their Flickr photos, PhotoWorks provides people with new ways to enjoy their images by showing off their creativity and integrating their photos into their daily lives.
The image import is the latest example of PhotoWorks' commitment to make it easy for people to access and upload their photos wherever they reside. Earlier this year, PhotoWorks launched PhotoStreamer2® software, a free application that allows PC and Mac users to rapidly upload hundreds of digital images, view, organize, and order prints directly from their desktop. PhotoStreamer2 features Drag & Drop, which also can be used in conjunction with other photo applications, making it easier than ever for users to create photo gifts. For Mac users, PhotoStreamer2 also features an iPhoto plug-in.

Once users import their photos to PhotoWorks, they can store and share their images; host personalized 'My Share' Web pages; and create hardbound photo books, greeting cards, journals, keepsake boxes, prints and other products. Users also can profit from their creativity by selling prints and photo gifts through My Storefront. Users can set their own price, and PhotoWorks handles the Web hosting, payments, fulfillments and customer service.

PhotoWorks users can also display their photos and photo books on Photo Communities, a social networking forum available on PhotoWorks.com. There are currently ten active communities: Dogs, Weddings, Cruise Line Travel, Cycling, Gardening, European Travel, Family Travel, Genealogy, Collegiate Alumni and Adventure Travel. Dozens of additional communities - including Vintage Cars, Snowboarding, Equestrian, New Parents, Grandparents, and more - will launch before the end of the year.

"PhotoWorks is about giving people the ability to do more with their photos," said Andy Wood, President and CEO of PhotoWorks. "It's all too easy for hard drives or storage sites to become the digital equivalent of the shoebox, where photos are kept but not looked at. By allowing users to create photo gifts from their Flickr photos, PhotoWorks provides people with new ways to enjoy their images by showing off their creativity and integrating their photos into their daily lives."
