Sentinel BreastScan™ to be Featured on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer

The Sentinel BreastScan™ early breast cancer detection system provides breast health information unlike any other non-invasive test.

Stony Brook, New York (PRWEB) November 2, 2007 -- Infrared Sciences Corp. (ISC), maker of the touchless Sentinel BreastScan™ system for the early detection of breast cancer, is scheduled to be featured in a segment on breast cancer November 7, in an interview between Diane Sawyer, and Dr. Rache Simmons of Cornell Weill Medical College of Cornell University. ISC has recently concluded a 2 year Study of the Sentinel BreastScan at Cornell.

Utilizing infrared imaging and proprietary artificial intelligence software, Sentinel BreastScan is designed to be used as an adjunctive test with mammography, ultrasound or clinical examination for the early detection of breast cancer. It is a non-invasive procedure offered to women of any age, to help determine current breast health. The patient simply sits in a chair, facing the Sentinel BreastScan unit for a few minutes. Test results are immediately available in the form of a fully-interpreted, objective report, to assist in the doctor's determination of breast health. The Sentinel BreastScan system can provide doctors with physiological breast data, which can provide very early, indirect indications of areas of concern, as well as pinpointing the exact location of anomalies. This differs from the anatomical data provided by mammography, ultrasound or MRI, which require that any anomaly be sufficiently developed to be physically detectable.

Thomas DiCicco, President/CEO of Infrared Sciences states, "This is truly a wonderful opportunity to educate the public as well as the medical community about this new breast cancer detection technology. Since the test is non- invasive, it is available to any woman of any age, but is especially well suited for screening young women; a group that is typically excluded from screening mammography, and whose mortality rates are worse than those of older women who have screening mammography available to them".

Sentinel BreastScan is available to qualified doctors for free. Doctors using the system determine the fee to be charged to patients for the procedure, and only pay ISC a small fee each time the system is used.
