The Horse Saddle Shop Expands Gaited Saddle Inventory with Circle Y Trail Gaiter™ Saddles
HorseSaddleShop.com is now stocking Circle Y's New Trail Gaiter™ saddles, made especially for gaited horses and built with Circle Y's new Flex2 technology.
Bremen, IN (PRWEB) November 7, 2007 -- You'd think that with saddle-making stretching back to the days of Genghis Khan and his Mongols that we'd have saddle-fitting down to an exact science. We're still making progress. It certainly helps to have saddles specifically designed for each discipline, whether it be trail riding or roping, reining or cutting. But throw a gaited horse into the mix, and twenty years ago, you'd probably be hard-pressed to know what saddle to choose. That's why HorseSaddleShop.com is happy to have one of the widest gaited saddle selections on the web. This month's newest additions are the Trail Gaiter™ Saddles from Circle Y of Youkam.
Mark Jemelka, general manager and Vice President of Circle Y, explains what prompted the creation of two new gaited saddles, "The realization of the market demand for a more 'breed specific' line of saddles has led us to develop the Trail Gaiter™ Line. Generally, saddle lines are designed on a more discipline specific basis. However, the growing trend of gaited breeds being used for trail riding has led us to focus with more of a rifle approach."
The Trail Gaiter saddles feature the new Circle Y Flex2™ technology that will specifically benefit gaited horses, making the saddle more flexible and rider-friendly. The Flex2 tree design allows for greater shoulder freedom by conforming to the horse perfectly, even while in motion, allowing unrestricted movement and enhancing the horse's natural gait. Impact Foam™ seat padding absorbs shock transference between horse and rider; the Neo-Shock™ skirts also absorb shock and conform to the horse's back. Jemelka explains, "The smooth ride of the gaited breeds coupled with the benefits of the visco-elastic material allows the rider to experience a very comfortable ride." The saddles also feature Circle Y's Softee™ seat jockey and fenders, which provide a "ready to ride" feel and reduce the uncomfortable break-in period of the new saddle. To correctly position the rider's legs, reducing knee and ankle strain and promoting balanced riding, the saddles feature ErgoBalance™ Stirrups. The Alabama Trail Gaiter is a western-style gaited saddle, while the Mississippi Trail Gaiter is English-style. Both are beautiful, with unique spider border tooling.
Why do gaited horses need a saddle specifically built for them? Because their walk is so unique. Instead of running like a traditional horse with a two-beat footfall, gaited horses use each leg independently, creating a four-beat gait. This creates a smoother ride, not to mention the fact that they look beautiful doing it. Yet all that foot movement also sends up a lot more motion through the shoulders and back. The proper saddle fit is even more crucial to gaited horses because often they will drop their gait when uncomfortable or restricted. Many horses have a beautiful gait when frolicking in the pasture, but once the saddle is on their back, they become clumsy and uncomfortable. This is often because a gaited horse can look like he has a well-fitting saddle standing still, but as soon as he starts moving, it's a different story. Flexibility ensures a secure connection between the horse and rider and allows the gaited horse to run with ease.
Because a well-fitting, comfortable saddle is a necessity to all horses, but especially to the gaited variety, the Horse Saddle Shop is proud to once again add to their inventory for this type of horse. And don't forget their downloadable templates for measuring your horse to find the best fit. They'll work no matter how he walks.
