Common APIs for building social applications on the Web, launched by Google, helps flauntR to bring online photo editing to more users and websites.
Zurich, Switzerland (PRWEB) November 7, 2007 -- flauntR ( http://www.flauntr.com ) has announced that they will be bringing online photo editing and effects applications to Orkut and OpenSocial enabled networks. flauntR has disclosed details and screenshots on their website of the flauntR application suite running in the developer sandbox provided on Orkut.
"The OpenSocial model significantly lowers the costs of distributing an application as ubiquitous and generic as photo editing to multiple social networks." said Balaji Bal, CEO of flauntR.
Shankar Lal (CTO - flauntR) says - "Integration into social networks is critical to the success of most web applications and the Open Social initiative has changed the rules of the game. The write once, run anywhere model allows flauntR to reach out to millions of users across the various social networks with a wide range of creative tools to style, edit and print out their photos, in a matter of days instead of months."
flauntR will be bringing all applications in the flauntR Creative Suite to OpenSocial enabled networks. The suite presently comprises of:
- flauntR-editR : For basic photo editing including cropping, resizing, color and red eye correction.
- flauntR-stylR: For adding 1000s of effects to images with a single click.
- flauntR-profilR : For creating profile images for over 50 social networks.
- flauntR-mobilR : For creating wallpapers for over 200 mobile handsets.
- flauntR-printR : printr allows users to create photo-based merchandise from the images including cups, t-shirts, cards and posters.
OpenSocial provides a common set of apis for social applications across multiple websites. With standard Javascript and HTML, developers can create apps that access a social network's friends and update feeds. OpenSocial is currently being developed by Google in conjunction with members of the web community. The ultimate goal is for any social website to be able to implement the apis and host 3rd party social applications. There are many websites implementing OpenSocial, including Engage.com, Friendster, hi5, Hyves, imeem, LinkedIn, MySpace, Ning, Oracle, Orkut, Plaxo, Salesforce.com, Six Apart, Tianji, Viadeo, and XING.
