Paris Hilton Shares Beauty Tips, Secret Behind Her Latest Fragrance

Paris Hilton shares beauty tips with fans and discusses how she creates her signature fragrances in an exclusive interview with Karen Monterichard of Makeup and Beauty Blog.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 20, 2007 -- How did Paris Hilton create her latest fragrance, CAN CAN Paris Hilton? Here's a hint: it was a labor of love.

Hundreds of screaming fans, most of them teenage girls, jostled for position with their camera phones held high at the Macy's Valley Fair store on Saturday to catch a glimpse of the one and only Paris Hilton, in the Bay Area on a promotional tour.

In an interview with Karen Monterichard of Makeup and Beauty Blog , Hilton discussed how the women in her family love perfume and shared some of her favorite makeup and beauty tips.

Hilton said fragrance means a lot to her because scent is such a big part of life. "How you smell is how you feel," she said, "or how people remember you."

That connection to memory is one of the things that inspired her to create her own fragrances. She still remembers the first perfume she ever fell in love with -- Joy, by Jean Patou -- because it reminds her of her grandmother. "She always used to wear it," Hilton said, "and she passed away from breast cancer a couple years ago, so it kind of reminds me of her when I wear it."

CAN CAN is the fourth fragrance by Hilton, who said she enlists the help of friends and family in creating new perfumes. After working with a perfumer to mix some of her favorite scents, Hilton narrows down the choice to three or four contenders. "And then I'll go around to my mom," Hilton said, "and my friends, my family, and my guy friends, and just not tell anyone what, you know, if it's A, B, C or D, and I'll have them smell and see what they like best."

Of Hilton's four fragrance campaigns, CAN CAN is the first to have a distinct theme. The imagery -- feathers, dancing, the big outfits -- evokes Moulin Rouge and dance.

As much as she loves fragrance, Hilton doesn't plan to stop there. A makeup line is also in the works. Makeup and Beauty Blog will share Hilton's makeup and beauty tips, including her favorite mascara and how she gets the glowy look she's famous for, with readers later this week.
