Mercury Computer Systems to Visualize DiMora's Luxury Automobile

From engineering design to buyer customization, Patchwork3D interactively shows the Natalia SLS 2 sport luxury sedan and every component part.

Palm Springs, CA (PRWEB) November 28, 2007 -- Mercury Computer Systems is the latest company to become a Technology Partner with DiMora Motorcar in the development of the Natalia SLS 2 sport luxury sedan. Mercury will provide its Patchwork3D software suite to perform interactive realistic viewing of all parts of the $2 million automobile based upon computer-aided design engineering data.

DiMora Motorcar Founder and CEO Alfred DiMora noted the importance of fast, realistic visualization, "Patchwork3D gives our engineers the ability to see the impacts of each alternative approach to a design problem very quickly. This enables them to try more approaches until they are confident that they have zeroed in on the best solution."

He also noted the value of Patchwork3D when a buyer customizes the vehicle about to be produced, "I am especially impressed by the realism and fine detail that Patchwork3D provides when showing how the texture of the interior leather will appear in different lighting conditions. This is virtual reality at its best."

Mercury's Vice President, Visualization Sciences Group, Jean-Bernard Cazeaux, talked about working with DiMora Motorcar. "We are strong supporters of what Alfred DiMora is doing to demonstrate America's ability to produce the world's finest automobiles. This follows the grand tradition of coach building in the era of the Duesenbergs. This fusion of classic craftsmanship with high-tech tools such as Patchwork3D will produce marvelous automobiles that redefine the meaning of Made in America."

The $2 million Natalia SLS 2 sport luxury sedan will feature the 1200-horsepower DiMora Volcano V16 engine and more innovative electronics and creature comforts than have ever been integrated into a production vehicle. The first prototype is scheduled for completion in late 2009, followed by the worldwide debut in Beverly Hills, California. The automobile will then be exhibited extensively at major technology and motor vehicle shows around the world.
