Las Vegas-Based Fine Artist, Joni Max, Featured Tuesday, December 11 on TLC's "Miami Ink"

Joni Max Exhibition opens at the Shannon Webb Gallery as part of The Arts Factory's Holiday Open House on Tuesday December 11, the same evening her appearance on "Miami Ink" airs nationwide.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) December 3, 2007 -- Lightening seldom strikes twice, unless you happen to be Las Vegas-based artist, Joni Max. Her second national TV appearance in nearly a year, on The Learning Channel's "Miami Ink," (episode "Through Thick and Thin") will air Tuesday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time, rebroadcast on Tuesday, December 25 at 7:00 p.m. and 11 p.m. Pacific Time (check your local listings).

Last summer, Joni and her comedian/magician husband, Max Clever - currently appearing in "Viva Las Vegas" at the Plaza Hotel & Casino -- received red carpet makeovers as did their West Las Vegas home and an art exhibit of her original works at The Palm's Ghost Bar - before TV viewers nationwide courtesy of Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." And now, thanks to TLC''s "Miami Ink," Joni is perhaps the first fine artist to have a tattoo of one of her works - on her back!

The Joni Max Exhibition opening night, Tuesday, December 11 from 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Shannon Webb Gallery, 101 E. Charleston Blvd, Suite 202, Las Vegas, 89102, is part of The Arts Factory's Holiday Open House. Joni's work can also be viewed January 4, 2008 at First Friday in the Arts Factory or by appointment by calling 702.806.5316.

Joni Max paints the passionate, the downtrodden, the desperate, sometimes happy-without-reason people of the world. They are interesting and important. Expressive, contemporary nudes are also part of her versatile repertoire. Joni states, "It's not about who I am, but about how the painting makes the viewer think and feel." It's difficult for Joni to sign her pieces, because she feels it distracts from the painting as a whole. Joni titles her work simply, i.e., Burnt Sienna Woman, Blue Girl, etc., so they are easily identified and they don't plant any preconceived concepts into the viewers' mind.

Joni has been painting, sculpting, faux finishing, and using many other mediums ever since she figured out how to use her hands. She studied fine art at the University of Nevada, Reno and the Jeanette O'Neil School of Decorative Arts in San Francisco. After college, she served as a graphic artist in various advertising agencies and magazines in northern Nevada and the Bay Area. She moved to Las Vegas in 1997 with her husband Max Clever and their five little dogs, cockatoos, and a bunny. Her works have graced several Las Vegas and Boulder City galleries.
