Winter Won't Stop Segway Angel Island Tours

Angel Island will offer Segway Tours on Saturday and Sunday through December 31st.

(PRWEB) December 7, 2007 -- Ferry service to Angel Island State Park is reduced in winter, but Segway Angel Island Experience will continue offering Segway tours at the park, with three daily tours on Saturday and Sunday through December.

"Private boat owners and groups can schedule special hours throughout the winter, as long as they have a group of 15 or more," said Segway Angel Island Experience operator Steve Steinberg. "Visitors planning to take the tour in the winter should check revised ferry schedules to the island or make special arrangements with private vessels. We need 15 or more to do a private group tour."

The recent spill of 58,000 gallons of oil in the San Francisco Bay, caused by a Chinese cargo ship that struck a bridge support, led park officials and ferry operations to temporarily halt travel to the island. However, the cleanup is finished and the park has reopened to visitors, with ferry service again running normally.

Segway Angel Island tours have been well received by casual visitors since launching last year, but they are also popular for corporate get-togethers such as team building, with organized relay races, obstacle courses, and other spirited challenges.

"They have the whole island to themselves, the tours usually exceed the two-hour time limit, and there are stunning views of San Francisco and the entire Bay Area," said Mr. Steinberg. "Catered meals are also available."

Three ferry companies serve Angel Island daily from San Francisco, Alameda (East Bay), and Tiburon (North Bay). For more information on Segway Angel Island tours, or to reserve a tour date, visit www.segwayangelisland.com.

"Any Company can (in effect) privately rent the Segways on the island (winter only), and they can check out more at www.segwayangelisland.com," Steinberg added.
