Cablevision Launches '44 Days in HD, on iO TV (SM)' Countdown, Saluting the 44 High-Definition Channels Available to iO TV Customers, Without Any Extra Fees or Charges

ESPN HD kicks off campaign as the first HD "Channel Of The Day". Each of iO TV's 44 HD channels will be recognized with daily press releases, TV and online banners, and more.

Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) December 10, 2007 -- Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) today launched a new promotional campaign, "44 Days in HD, on iO TV," which will recognize a different high-definition channel available to the company's iO TV digital cable customers each weekday -- beginning with the first "Channel of the Day" -- ESPN HD. Each of the 44 HD channels available to iO TV customers will be spotlighted during the countdown, through daily press releases, banners on iO TV and the Optimum.net consumer Web portal, and other tactics. The initiative will promote the quality programming available to iO TV customers through Cablevision's leading high-definition line-up -- without any of the extra fees and charges phone and satellite TV providers impose on customers who want to "see" in HD.

Located on iO TV channel 736, ESPN HD reaches more than 15 million subscribers nationwide and is available to more than 91 million homes. Tonight, iO TV customers will be able to watch ESPN's Monday Night Football in high-definition at 8:30 ET, as the New Orleans Saints visit the Atlanta Falcons. ESPN's NFL-themed shows, including the 90-minute NFL Monday Night Countdown, NFL Primetime and SportsCenter will begin at 3:30 p.m. ET and will all be telecast in high-definition.

For the remainder of 2007 and throughout 2008, ESPN HD will deliver thousands of hours of programming in high-definition, including all of ESPN's NASCAR coverage, NBA telecasts, MLS telecasts, MLB telecasts, college football and basketball telecasts, and all coverage of NFL Monday Night Football. All of ESPN's 2007 college football bowl game coverage will originate in high-definition, as will more than 120 college basketball games and related studio shows. On December 31, ESPN will offer 23 hours of high-definition programming.

"We are pleased to honor ESPN HD as the very first Channel of the Day in our '44 Days in HD, on iO TV' countdown," said John Trierweiler, Cablevision's senior vice president of product management. "ESPN HD is a terrific example of the quality and diversity of high-definition programming our iO TV customers enjoy."

100 percent of ESPN's Bristol-based studio programming originates in high-definition, including SportsCenter, NFL Countdown, NFL Monday Night Countdown, NFL Live, Monday Night Countdown, and Baseball Tonight. In addition to live sports programming, ESPN HD also produces individual programs, movies and series.

Cablevision's high-definition line-up has more than doubled over the last year, and the company has the capacity today to deliver hundreds of channels of high-definition programming over its fully-deployed fiber optic network. More than 900,000 of Cablevision's nearly 2.6 million iO TV customers have at least one high-definition television and HD-cable set-top box in the home.

In an effort to drive consumer awareness and continued adoption of HDTV, Cablevision recently launched a retail partnership with P.C. Richard & Son, the New York metropolitan area's leading consumer appliance and electronics retailer, which allows customers to conveniently sign up for all three Optimum products -- iO TV digital cable, Optimum Online high-speed Internet access and Optimum Voice phone service -- at 35 P.C. Richard & Son retail locations in Cablevision's service territory. Cablevision is also providing its award-winning digital cable service to more than 30 store locations, so customers can experience the best in high-definition programming while they shop for a new HD television set.

Nearly 83 percent of Cablevision's cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers, the highest digital penetration in the nation. iO TV offers customers access to more than 360 channels, including 53 premium movie channels, 48 channels of commercial-free digital music, more than 1,800 titles available on demand at all times, an interactive programming guide, 44 high definition programming services and groundbreaking interactive television applications including News 12 Interactive.
