HBO HD is Cablevision's HD Channel of the Day, as Part of Company's Continuing '44 Days in HD, on iO(SM) TV' Countdown

Ongoing salute to excellence in HD programming recognizes each of the 44 high-definition services iO TV customers receive at no additional cost.

Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) December 18, 2007 -- Cablevision Systems Corp. (www.cablevision.com) today is recognizing HBO HD as its HD Channel of the Day, as part of the ongoing "44 Days in HD, on iO TV" countdown. Available to Cablevision's iO TV customers on channel 750, HBO HD offers an unparalleled viewing experience with a picture that is up to five times sharper than standard TV. Customers with an "HD-capable" or an "HD-ready" television set and an HD set top box can enjoy all the groundbreaking original HBO series, films and documentaries as well as top Hollywood hits presented in awe-inspiring detail.

During the countdown, Cablevision is recognizing each of the 44 high-definition services iO customers receive at no additional cost, including all nine local professional sports teams in HD. Unlike its satellite and phone company competitors, Cablevision does not impose additional fees and charges on customers who want to "see" in HD.

"Cablevision is pleased to recognize HBO HD as today's Channel of the Day in the '44 Days in HD, on iO TV' countdown," said John Trierweiler, Cablevision's senior vice president of product management. "HBO HD offers viewers an outstanding array of award-winning original programming, top sporting events and hit movies that are helping to re-define the iO TV home entertainment experience."

FEATURED PROGRAMMING FOR DECEMBER 18, 2007 includes:

·   6:15 p.m., X-Men: The Last Stand
Starring Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Shawn Ashmore, Aaron Stanford, Vinnie Jones and Patrick Stewart. The discovery of an antibody that can turn mutants into normal humans results in full-scale war in this third entry in the X-Men saga. At the core of the controversy is a little boy whose body produces the antibody, and a tycoon whose personal stake prompts him to begin mass-production of this new "cure." But while Professor Charles Xavier and his X-Men are leery but open to the possibilities, the wrathful Magneto and his mutants set out to annihilate every trace of the antibody--using the resurrected Jean Grey (now known as Dark Phoenix) as an unstoppable weapon.

·   8:00 p.m., DREAMGIRLS
The hit Broadway musical comes to the screen in this amazing 2006 film about the rise of a 1960s female super group--and the price that they pay along the way. Winner of two Academy Awards® as well as the Golden Globe-winner for Best Motion Picture--Musical or Comedy, the film stars Jamie Foxx as the group's Svengali-like manager who leads the trio to stardom. Beyoncé Knowles co-stars as the group's gorgeous lead and Eddie Murphy plays a soul singer who gives the girls their first break. Also with Danny Glover, Anika Noni Rose, Keith Robinson and Jennifer Hudson whose searing performance won her the Best Supporting Actress Oscar® and many other awards.

·   10:15 p.m., Final Destination 3
Death makes a bloody date with a new set of unlucky teens in this harrowing horror sequel. This time, a young woman's premonition of a fatal roller-coaster accident saves her life along with several others. But Death will not be cheated and, one by one, the survivors fall victim to a series of elaborately staged "accidents." Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Merriman lead the cast as two of the teens who desperately try to escape their seemingly inevitable fates.

More than 900,000 of Cablevision's nearly 2.6 million iO TV digital cable customers have at least one HD television and HD-capable set-top box. In an effort to facilitate continued adoption of HDTV, Cablevision recently launched a retail partnership with P.C.
