Unique New Media/Theatre Collaboration Not Affected By Strike

In a unique collaboration between the old (theatre) and the new (New Media), the Greenroots Network and playwright/director Anthony Mora are presenting the development of Mora's new play, Modern Love (which will premiere at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre in 2008) on the Greenroots' Network entertainment media site.

Los Angeles, CA. (PRWEB) December 20, 2007 -- Although much of the industry has come to a standstill, not all writing and production has stopped. The internet has offered an outlet for many strike-affected writers and the theatre continues. In a unique collaboration between the old (theatre) and the new (New Media), the Greenroots Network and playwright/director Anthony Mora are presenting the development of Mora's new play, Modern Love (which will premiere at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre in 2008) on the Greenroots' Network entertainment media site (www.greenrootsmedia.com).

A New Media/Theatre Hybrid
"The collaboration with Greenroots Media, Inc. is very different for me," explains Mora, whose plays have been compared to Mamet, Pinter and LaBute. "Visitors can watch online as the play develops, participate in the documentary film on the making of the play and meet the characters online. This is definitely a theatre/new media hybrid; we'll be presenting some extra scenes and character back stories which will only show online. We're in talks about possibly shooting it as a feature with Greenroots; but for now, we have our hands full."

Greenroots Network Online Casting Contest
One role in Modern Love will be cast online. A scene will be posted on the site and actors will submit video auditions. Greenroots members will then participate in the casting selection.

Internet Entertainment Company as a Targeted Social Network
The Greenroots Network (www.greenrootsmedia.com), which is currently in a "pre-Beta" launch, is an Internet entertainment company as well as a targeted social network. The site not only brings industry artists together, but also develops and launches projects under its own Internet production company. Greenroots focuses on both producing videos as well as assisting others by providing a platform for internet video creators to connect and collaborate. Greenroots' first original production is the web series Tucson Underground.

Anthony Mora serves as the playwright-in-residence at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre. He has written three plays including P.O.P. The Principles of Perfection and BANG! A Love Story, adapted for the stage from his controversial, award-winning novel. Scenes from Bang! featuring Linda Cardellini were performed at the Acme Theater in Los Angeles and The American Place Theater in New York. Modern Love will premiere at the Sidewalk Studio Theatre in Toluca Lake, California in September.
