Illusion 33 to Release Debut CD "18 Shades"

Indie rock trio Illusion 33 has released its debut CD, "18 Shades" this month on the Dummy Boy Records label. Hailing from Sandpoint, Idaho, Illusion 33 serves up melody drenched pop-punk with enough edge to rattle the speakers and big-game hook that demands attention. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho (PRWEB) February 8, 2007 -- Illusion 33's debut CD, "18 Shades," was released nationwide this month by Dummy Boy Records. Hailing from Sandpoint, Idaho, the indie rock trio serves up melody drenched pop-punk with enough edge to rattle the speakers and big-game hook that demands attention. Previews of the album have already garnered positive reviews and radio airplay in the Northwest.

Making music together since 2000, Illusion 33 features Jesse Bennett on guitar and vocals, Jason Stoddard on bass guitar and vocals, and K.C. Carter on drums. Their rock influences are broad and include diverse artists such as Led Zeppelin, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, STYX and Pearl Jam, to name a few.

The title track (track 2) and first single, "18 Shades," is an atmospheric ballad offering a blend of melody and substance that crescendos to a dynamic rock finale. "Entrust in Three" is the first track on the CD and the band describes the song as a personal anthem about their shared passion for music, their reliance on each other, and the band's journey to make their dream a reality.

Bennett, Stoddard and Carter wrote all eleven songs on the CD with Dummy Boy Records Producer and Co-writer Sha-Sta' Lasso, who further drew upon the band's artistic abilities to create a more melodic and pop-minded album. Fans describe their sound as being reminiscent of Green Day and Bowling for Soup.

The third track, "My Heart," is a popular ballad, and the most requested song of three on this CD already in regular rotation on the airwaves in the Northwest. The fourth track, "Conversation," evokes the feeling of a rock opera with quick guitar riffs, swirling percussion and in-your-face vocals---it's high speed energy at its finest. "This song provides crunch---something to sink your teeth into---with sing-along hooks," says Lasso. "Tragedy" (track 5) is a broken-to-hardened heart ballad in the pop-punk vein.

"It's the damndest thing, listening to local band Illusion 33 you catch snatches of melody and guitar riffs that completely remind you of someone, but you can't place it," wrote Zach Hagadone, publisher of the Sandpoint Reader (Idaho) in a recent review. Hagadone says he doesn't know how to describe Illusion 33 in comparison with anybody else, "To put it simply, they sound like they're already famous."

Illusion 33 enjoys a huge, loyal fan base locally and throughout the Northwest, and easily draws crowds of 200-600 at their live shows, depending on the venue. They've also generated buzz on a national level while touring the country under contract with Guitar Centers in 2001-2002. The band gained additional recognition in 2005 when they were named "Best Band" at the Music and Fashion Expo in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Tribune described Illusion 33 as "one of the hottest new bands to hit the airwaves in years."

Illusion 33's "18 Shades" CD is available now at retailers nationwide including Amazon, Best Buy, and Barnes and Noble, and via Internet distribution outlets iTunes, Rhapsody, Starbucks and Sony Connect, as well as the band's own Web site www.ill33.com.

ABOUT ILLUSION 33
Illusion 33 (www.ill33.com and www.myspace.com/illusion33) landed a choice gig in 2001, when it was hand picked and contracted by Guitar Centers to play at in-store grand opening celebrations nationwide in 2001 and 2002. On the heels of the national exposure garnered as Guitar Centers' "house band," Illusion 33 was added to the lineup on the Van's Warped Tour in 2002-2003, and also landed slots at the Fashion Expo, Orange Blossom Festival, Rock for Tots and Wolfstock. Rockin' together since 2000, Jesse Bennett (guitar/vocals), Jason Stoddard (bass guitar/vocals) and K.C. Carter (drums) bring down the house at live shows with their in-your-face, heart pumping, high-energy performance.
