Safe Sound Sports Introduces the SSPS-1 Speaker System, a New Way to Safely Listen to Music Outdoors

Safe Sound Sports has launched the SSPS-1 wearable speaker system for iPod and MP3 players. These ultra lightweight speakers clip to your clothing near your ears or can be hung around your neck, lanyard style. They are ideal for all outdoor activities.

Madeira Beach, FL (PRWEB) February 10, 2007 -- Safe Sound Sports has launched the SSPS-1 wearable speaker system for iPod and MP3 players. These ultra lightweight speakers clip to your clothing near your ears or can be hung around your neck, lanyard style. They are ideal for all outdoor activities.

With the great climate we have here in southern Florida, many people love to walk, jog, and ride bicycles year round while listening to their favorite music on their MP-3 or i-Pod players. Unfortunately, these outdoor enthusiasts are unnecessarily putting themselves at risk when using headphones or ear buds. Being aware of your surroundings is critical to your safety and when you wear these types of speakers, you are somewhat if not totally isolated from hearing potential attackers, traffic noise, animals and other serious threats.

After reading an article in the Dayton Daily News of an attack on a woman who was jogging on the bike trail while wearing headphones, Christopher Rooney, the founder of Safe Sound Sports, LLC, decided to look for a solution to this problem. The article stated that the woman told the police she couldn't hear the attacker coming up from behind because she was listening to music through her headphones. Had she been able to hear the attacker, she may have been able to get away or cry out for help. These types of incidents and accidents needlessly happen all the time because of headphone and ear bud use. Police departments, bicycling associations, running associations and colleges, urge people to be aware of their surroundings when outdoors and not to use headphones. Many states have laws against using headphones while riding a bicycle, including Florida

After several years of research and development, Safe Sound Sports is proud to announce the SSPS-1 speaker system. Because these speakers are not in or on your ear, you are able to hear your music and your surroundings. These ultra lightweight speakers clip to your clothing near your ears or can be hung around your neck, lanyard style. No batteries are required as they are powered from your MP-3 or i-Pod. The ultra lightweight and efficiency of these speakers is due to a magnet material called neodymium. Neodymium magnets are the strongest magnets known and they are considerably lighter and smaller than traditional magnet materials of comparable strength. The SSPS-1 also use polypropylene speaker cones so they are water resistant. A second benefit of the system is not subjecting yourself to potential hearing loss as you receive less sound pressure to the ear. Also, if you like to exercise with a friend you can still listen to your music and be able to carry on a conversation.

The SSPS-1 speaker system is available online at www.safesoundsports.com and selected bicycle and running shops. The suggested retail is $19.95 and they carry a 1 year limited warranty.
