Winners Find Success After Winning USA Songwriting Competition.

Past winners of the USA Songwriting Competition have gone to further successes from their wins with the USA Songwriting Competition. Past winners include Grammy award winners, Juno Awards winners and RIA winners.

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) March 3, 2007 -- Past winners of the USA Songwriting Competition have gone to further successes from their wins with the USA Songwriting Competition. Darrell Scott's song "Good Ol USA" (2005 1st prize winner of the country category) was recorded by Faith Hill in her new album "Fireflies", the song was renamed "We've Got Nothing But Love To Prove" on Faith Hill's new album. The album peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 Album Charts and has sold over 2 million copies. The album is available in all record stores worldwide.

Aruna Sutra (2004 USA Songwriting Competition 1st Prize Winner, Pop Category) hit number 1 on the Billboard 200 Album Charts with her song "I Got Nerve". It is featured on the chart-busting Hannah Montana soundtrack, which hit the number one slot in the Billboard 200 Album Charts on November 11, 2006, selling 281,000 copies at that time. Additionally, "I Got Nerve" made its Billboard Hot 100 singles chart debut taking the following chart at #67.

It is great to see that songwriters are being acknowledged
Marcy Marxer & Cathy Fink (2005 USA Songwriting Competition 1st Prize winner - Children's music category) will be the featured panelists along with famous songwriters such as Paul Williams, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at the ASCAP Songwriters EXPO in Los Angeles, CA on April 19-21. Marcy Marxer & Cathy Fink won a Grammy award with the album in 2005 and 2006 (Children's music category).

Other notable winners include Juno Awards winners James Keelaghan and David Francey.

PAST YEARS COMPETITION WINNERS
Vikki Simpson, Australian singer-songwriter from an award winning acoustic folk group called "The Waifs", won the Overall Grand Prize as well as the first prize in the Folk category with her song "Bridal Train" in the 11th Annual USA Songwriting Competition. This is also the first time that the top prize went to a songwriter outside United States. Other winners include: Victoria Banks (Canada), Kimberly Bass (USA), Barry Chung Hing Hung (Hong Kong), Peter Maniatis & All The Brightness (Canada), Leeah Ioannides and Bing Abrahams (Cyprus), Allen Hoist (USA), Jordan Zevon (son of the legendary late songwriter Warren Zevon) and Pepper MaShay & Electro Illusion (USA).

INSPIRATION FROM PAST WINNERS AND JUDGES
"I feel honored to win such a prestigious competition. It feels great to be acknowledged for something I am passionate about. Winning this category of the competition has inspired me to further pursue music as a career" said, Monticue Connally, 1st Prize (Hip-Hop/Rap) winner in the 2006 USA Songwriting Competition.

"It has been my privilege to be a part of your songwriting competition as a judge", said Kirk Boyer, an A&R Director, Lyric Street Records.

"It is great to see that songwriters are being acknowledged", said Brian Jackson, A&R director of EMI Music Publishing.

12th ANNUAL USA SONGWRITING COMPETITION
Entries are currently being accepted for the 12th Annual USA Songwriting Competition. Winning songs of the 12th Annual USA Songwriting Competition will receive airplay on a nationally syndicated radio program "Acoustic Café" as well as XM Satellite Radio. This is the first Songwriting Competition that gives airplay to the winning songs, giving deserving bands, songwriters the recognition and exposure they deserve. Entrants stand to win a grand prize of over US$50,000 in cash and music gear from Sony, Ibanez Guitars, Audio-Technica, IK Multi-Media and more, making this the largest prize package for any annual songwriting competition. Many USA Songwriting Competition winners in the past have received recording and publishing contracts, as well as having their songs placed on film and television. Judges include A&R managers from record labels such as Warner, Universal, BMG/SONY Music.

Sponsors include Sony, Audio-Technica, Ibanez Guitars, D'Addario Strings, and IK Multimedia. Songs may be entered in 15 different categories including Pop, Rock/Alternative, R&B and Country. The competition is aimed at promoting excellence in the art of songwriting among writers, composers, bands, singer/songwriters and solo artists in an international forum. Entries are accepted from now through May 31, 2007.
