The Human Capital Institute, University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management Offer 'Leadership as Performance' Networking Event

The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (Chicago GSB), and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management today announced that Harry L. Davis, a professor of creative management at Chicago GSB, will speak at the latest in a series of ongoing B-School Network and Learn events for the Greater Chicago business community.

Washington, D.C. and Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 10, 2007 -- The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (Chicago GSB), and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management today announced that Harry L. Davis, a professor of creative management at Chicago GSB, will speak at the latest in a series of ongoing B-School Network and Learn events for the Greater Chicago business community.

The networking breakfast event will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM CT, in the Gleacher Center, 450 North Cityfront Plaza Drive, at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Leadership is performance, and performance can be learned
Davis' presentation, "Leadership as Performance," will explore how leaders can draw the interest and support of employees by tapping into the art of performance. Professor Davis will show how assuming three discrete performance roles, actor, director, and playwright, helps drive leadership.

"Leadership is performance, and performance can be learned," said HCI's President & Executive Director Allan Schweyer. "At this fascinating and informative session, Harry Davis will share an innovative business concept that session attendees can immediately put into practice in their organizations."

Harry L. Davis is the Roger L. and Rachel M. Goetz Distinguished Service Professor of Creative Management at the University of Chicago's GSB. He has been a member of the GSB faculty since 1963. In addition to his research and teaching in the areas of consumer behavior, marketing management, business strategy, new product development, industrial marketing, leadership, and creativity, he has introduced many innovative executive education programs in the U.S. and abroad, including: the first core leadership program of any top-rated M.B.A. program in the country, opening the first international campus of the Chicago GSB in Barcelona, Spain, where he was deputy dean for GSB M.B.A. programs, and the Management Lab (a.k.a. The New Product Laboratory).

Davis has served on several boards of directors in both the public and non-profit sectors; currently he is a trustee and member of the executive committee of the National Opinion research Center at the University of Chicago, a national organization devoted to large-scale social research in the public interest. His scholarly research has appeared in a number of top-tier academic journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research and the Journal of Marketing.

Davis received an A.B. in sociology in 1958 and an M.B.A. in marketing in 1960 from Dartmouth College. He earned an A.M. in sociology in 1969 and a Ph.D. in marketing in 1970 from Northwestern University. He served as deputy dean from 1983 to 1993.

Professionals interested in attending the Chicago event should call 866-538-1909 or visit HCI's website to register. For a list of Human Capital B-School events at prestigious universities throughout the U.S. and Canada, please visit "Events" at www.humancapitalinstitute.org
