World-Renowned Optics Expert Gives Photographers Lens-Buying Advice at Adorama AIRC

Optics expert Bob Atkins provides his insights into buying lenses for digital SLR cameras -- and describes when it's sometimes better to avoid the best lens money can buy -- in new article for Adorama Imaging Resource Center.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 14, 2007 -- In its ongoing efforts to educate photographers and help them improve their skills, Adorama has just published "Choosing a Lens" (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=academy&article=031207&refby=press_lensguide)." The article is the latest in an ongoing series, published on the AIRC -- Adorama Imaging Resource Center, by renowned optics expert Bob Atkins. In this article, Atkins compares different quality lenses at different prices and describes the trade-offs of price vs. quality.

"I expect that anybody who reads Bob's article will come away with a better idea of which kind of lens is best for him or her," says AIRC editor Mason Resnick. "It's filled with the kind of practical advice a lens buyer would want to hear from a knowledgeable salesperson who has the customer's best interest in mind." Since a high-caliber lens can easily cost over $1,000, Atkins' advice can indeed be valuable to consumers contemplating expanding their DSLR's capabilities through an optical upgrade.

Bob Atkins, who has served as an optical engineer for Bell Labs and has been contributing to online understanding of photography since the mid-90s, joined Adorama as a contributing author in 2006. You can see more of his writing, as well as articles by a world-class team of photography experts, at the AIRC (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=academy&refby=press_lensguide).

Online photo magazine at a retail site?

AIRC -- Adorama Imaging Resource Center is quickly becoming a choice destination for photographers at all levels of experience who want to improve their picture-taking and image-editing skills. AIRC has over 250 how-to photography articles, buying guides and picture-selling advice, as well as daily breaking news about the photography industry, written by a team of top photography experts.

Why would Adorama, a well-respected New York-based camera retailer, publish what is essentially an online photo magazine? AIRC editor Mason Resnick says, "We believe the more information and knowledge we can provide, the more people will trust Adorama both as a trusted, reliable information source and as a place where they can feel comfortable buying their photographic gear."
