Tropical Imaging: Expecting Cheesy Holiday Snaps? Not Anymore
A small up-and coming boutique photo studio based in the new hot destination of Turks & Caicos Islands, has just received eight awards for excellence in the nationally acclaimed WPPI 16x20 Awards of Excellence Print Competition this month in Las Vegas.
Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands (PRWEB) April 18, 2007 -- Tropical Imaging has just won an outstanding eight awards of excellence for its photographs of families, weddings and romantic honeymoons all taken locally in the Caribbean Islands. Whilst it’s a common belief to assume that the “local island talent” cannot produce top quality photography, Tropical Imaging has clearly shown that this is not true.
Whilst that is great news, the really great news is that this excellent photography is not just limited to weddings and other special events. Tropical Imaging actually specializes in making the ordinary into extra ordinary so that afternoon on the beach with the kids, a trip around the islands or a morning spent shell hunting can all become your own award winning - moment in time.
The WPPI ( Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) Awards of Excellence competition is held annually and this year had over 2,700 prints entered from photographers from all over the world. Only the top images are selected with around 150 prints achieving the Award of Excellence grade.
“This is the first year that we have ever entered such a competition,” commented Tropical Imaging CEO Andrew Mann. “We asked each of our five photographers to pick their favorite image from regular photo sessions they had shot throughout the year. We then had them professionally printed by our pro-lab White House Custom Colour in St Paul, MN and then shipped to the competition. It was quite amazing to walk around the show in Las Vegas and to see first one print, then two and then three on display. We had hoped we would be close to getting some recognition, but to have eight prints selected was just fabulous. I’m very proud of the effort our team of photographers has put in - after all - these images were taken straight from photo shoots with regular clients- the stuff we do everyday of the week.”
Tropical Imaging is hoping to build on this success by not just entering further award competitions and by also promoting its “everyday photography” for people on vacation in the Turks & Caicos Islands. After all visitors to the islands now have a choice. They can choose not to have the same old “cheesy holiday snaps” but can have a picture that could win an award.
