Prominent clergyman and community leader is named 2nd assistant of the largest African-American Pentecostal Church in the World.
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) April 29, 2007 -- Northeast Michigan Jurisdiction Prelate, Bishop P.A. Brooks was appointed Second Assistant to the new Presiding Bishop, Charles H. Blake by The Church of God In Christ General Assembly, during April's Annual Call Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee. The 6.5 million member church is the largest African-American Pentecostal religious denomination in the world.
Internationally recognized religious and civic leader, Brooks has been the Jurisdictional Prelate of the First Jurisdiction of Michigan since 1975, overseeing more than 96 churches that make up the jurisdiction.
"I have been privileged to serve as a local pastor for over 50 years, the national church for nearly 40 years and as a jurisdictional bishop for more than three decades. In this capacity, my focus has been to preserve and protect the purity of our holiness faith," said Brooks.

Founding pastor of New St. Paul Tabernacle in Detroit, MI, Bishop P.A. Brooks is a native of Chicago, Illinois and a fourth generation product of the Church of God in Christ. A prominent business man, activist and community leader, Bishop Brooks is a pioneer in economic development and education initiatives. His lauded accomplishments include; building Detroit's Faith Manor Senior Citizens complex, instituting the Public Policy Institute for Justice 501(c) 3, organizing relief efforts for victims of 9/11 and natural disasters; hurricanes Katrina and Hugo.
