Renowned Physicist Brian Greene Will Select String Theory Video Winner
DISCOVER announced today the finalists in its first "Science in Two Minutes or Less" challenge - String Theory. Eight finalist videos were chosen from over 50 entries explaining String Theory -- submitted to compete for a chance to be featured in an upcoming issue of Discover magazine and given prominent placement on Discovermagazine.com.
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 3, 2007 -- DISCOVER announced today the finalists in its first "Science in Two Minutes or Less" challenge - String Theory. Eight finalist videos, were chosen from over 50 entries explaining String Theory -- submitted to compete for a chance to be featured in an upcoming issue of Discover magazine and given prominent placement on Discovermagazine.com. Readers submitted videos using the Brightcove Internet TV service. The winning String Theory video will be selected by Columbia University physicist and bestselling author, Brian Greene, author of The Elegant Universe.
Discovermagazine.com will also post the String Theory finalists' videos today to give everyone a chance to vote for their favorite. A husband and wife team from Ohio, a college physics club in New Mexico, a high school science teacher and his students in South Carolina, and a home-schooled family from Virginia are among the finalists whose videos can be viewed at discovermagazine.com

"Science in Two Minutes or Less" is a new DISCOVER feature aimed at everyday scientists who are asked to produce a short video that clearly and concisely explains an often discussed but rarely understood scientific concept. Winners are showcased by DISCOVER across its multiple media platforms.
DISCOVER worked with Internet TV pioneer, Brightcove, to offer readers the ability to easily upload their own video explaining String Theory. Brightcove has partnered with DISCOVER to power all the video on the newly unveiled magazine website and enable readers and fans to easily put the video on their own blogs and personal websites.
