AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resource Center Editor Responds to This Year's Prestigious Imaging Products Awards

20-year photo industry veteran writer weighs in on the Technical Imaging Press Association's TIPA best imaging products of 2007 awards, and offers alternatives

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 4, 2007 -- Last week, the Europe-based Technical Imaging Press Association (TIPA) announced its winners of its annual Best Imaging Products awards for 2007; this week, AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resrouce Center editor Mason Resnick responds with a feature article, "The Best Imaging Gear Right Now!" (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?article=042707&op=academy_new&refby=TIPA)

"These awards are have become like the European Grammys, Tonys, or Oscars for imaging gear," notes Resnick, who has been writing about photo equipment for over 20 years for a variety of popular photography magazines and web sites. "All of the items TIPA has chosen are excellent products, but are they all the best in their respective categories? In some cases, in my opinion, TIPA's choices are debatable," Says Resnick.

"The Best Imaging Gear Right Now!" is a roundup of TIPA's choices, along with Resnick's responses and alternate suggestions. One example is the Best DSLR-Entry Level category: TIPA awarded this honor to the Nikon D40x, which Resnick says is "a fine camera" but has autofocus incompatibility problems with some older Nikon lenses and third-party lenses. As an alternative, he suggests the Canon Digital Rebel XTi instead.

"Let the debates begin!" says Resnick, who invites reader feedback.

Resnick, who joined Adorama as the editor of its unique online magazine, the AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resource Center, in 2005, is the former managing editor of Popular Photography magazine, and has worked as a writer and editor for Modern Photography, Photo District News, Shutterbug, and briefly wrote the Camera column for the Sunday New York Times. You can see his writing, along with articles by a team of world-renowned photography experts, at www.adorama.com/airc (http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?op=academy&refby=TIPA).

Online photo magazine at a retail site?

AIRC - Adorama Imaging Resource Center is quickly becoming a choice destination for photographers at all levels of experience who want to improve their picture-taking and image-editing skills. AIRC has over 250 how-to photography articles, buying guides and picture-selling advice, as well as daily breaking news about the photography industry, written by a team of top photography experts.

Why would Adorama, a well-respected New York-based camera retailer, publish what is essentially an online photo magazine? Resnick says, "we believe the more information and knowledge we can provide, the more people will trust Adorama both as a reliable information source and as a place where they can feel comfortable buying their photographic gear."
