Px3, abbreviated for "Prix de la Photographie Paris," announced the jury's selection of winners on April 30th, 2007. In its very successful first year, Px3 received thousands of extremely high-quality entries.

Paris, France (PRWEB) May 10, 2007 -- Px3, abbreviated for "Prix de la Photographie Paris," announced the jury's selection of winners on April 30th, 2007. In its very successful first year, Px3 received thousands of extremely high-quality entries. Entries were judged by category: Advertising, Photojournalism, Book, Fine Art, Nature, and Portraiture, all which contain various sub-categories.

The winner of the most coveted public recognition, the Px3 Photographer of the Year, is professional photographer Alex Telfer from the United Kingdom. Telfer is being recognized for the overall quality of submissions in several categories, in particular his "Nikon" series.

The recipient of the Best New Talent Award and the 2,000 Euro cash prize is Todd Krainin from California for his series titled, Nepal 2006: Civil War in Shangri-La. Krainin says, "I was both stunned and grateful in equal measure .... Px3 is the first organization to recognize the work I did in Asia .... After several months of running from tear gas and water cannons, it's rewarding to know that someone out there besides myself thinks that it was all worth it."

The photographs of the Px3 Photographer of the Year, the Best New Talent Award winner, plus the 1st and 2nd place winners in each Major category are exhibited in Paris at the 13Sévigné Gallery on June 29th, 2007 for two weeks and are published in the Px3 Annual Book. The 13Sévigné Gallery is located heart of Paris's Marais District. Gallery director Jean-Michel Chaufour and artistic director Jeannette Mariani regularly present budding and established international artists who employ innovative techniques and raise questions about contemporary society.

The work of the 1st and 2nd Place Subcategory winners are also published in the high-quality, full-color Px3 Annual Book. The names of the Honorable Mention recipients and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Subcategory Public Choice Winners will be included as well.

Px3 is juried by top international decision-makers in the photography industry: Jérôme Ormieres, Art Director of BDDP & Fils, Paris; Simon James, Publishing Director of EC1 Publishing Ltd (London based Photographic Publishers), London; Carol Johnson, Curator of Photography of Library of Congress, Washington D.C.; Gilles Raynaldy, Director of Purpose, Paris; Kenan Aktulun, VP/Creative Director, of Digitas, New York; Naomi Cass, Director of Centre for Contemporary Photography, Australia, Steve Fine, Director of Photography of Sports Illustrated; Chiara Mariani, Photo Editor of Corriere della Sera Magazine, Italy, Arnaud Adida, Director of Acte 2 Gallery, Acte 2 Agency, Paris, Susan A.
