Recent Online Study Finds that a Potential Al Gore Candidacy for President Benefits Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton stands to benefit if Al Gore runs for president.

Washington D.C. (PRWEB) May 23, 2007 -- USAElectionPolls.com did a study of polls taken this year -- 46 democratic primary state polls with Al Gore mentioned as a candidate and 77 without.

The study found that John Edwards of the south stood the most to lose from a potential Al Gore candidacy. His support dropped 30% if Al Gore was mentioned as a candidate and Barack Obama dropped 15%. Both of these candidates split the natural Gore supporters while Hillary Clinton's support surprisingly remained the same.

According to the web site, they suggest that this is due to Hillary Clinton having the strongest base of supporters of all the democratic presidential hopefuls. Even if a popular candidate such as Al Gore runs, her supporters do not flock elsewhere.

"If Al Gore splits the votes with Edwards and Obama, there just is not enough votes to go around to beat Clinton in 2008," says David Terr who holds a PhD in Mathematics from UC Berkeley.
