Buck Mccoy Could be The 'Next Big Thing'

Country recording artist Buck McCoy has quite a lot going on as he gets set for the release of his debut CD "Top Dog."

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2007 -- Country recording artist Buck McCoy has quite a lot going on as he gets set for the release of his debut CD "Top Dog." Millions will be getting a glimpse of this Grand Prairie, Texas native on the "Next Best Thing" during a two-hour premiere Wednesday May 30t on ABC-TV.

His first single, "A Few Steps Away," is being released to radio in conjunction with the series that tapped him due to his resemblance to Country superstar Tim McGraw. "Make no mistake about it, Buck McCoy is a potential country star in his own right with an amazing voice and powerful musical instincts," says industry expert Larry Weir who co-produced the album along with his brother Tom Weir for their newly formed Caption Record label. Tom Weir, a recent Grammy winner, also engineered and mixed the 12-song collection at his Studio City Sound compound in Southern California.

Buck first burst onto the national scene three years ago on another ABC-TV series, "Performing As," and he has been busy ever since. He has hosted and performed for the last two New Music Weekly Award Shows along side American Idol's Carmen Rasmusen, Corey Clark and "Young & Restless" star Lauren Woodland. Buck is also the radio host for the "New Discovery" syndicated radio show on the Independent Music Network, he runs McCoy productions working with Jim Brickman, Barry Friedman and numerous country artists and he even finds time to teach a radio voiceover class helping new industry hopefuls. "This week we have Marisa Petroro from 'Deal Or No Deal' coming in to learn some voiceover tips," said Buck from his own recording studio now located North Hollywood.

The "Top Dog" CD album reflects his varied influences that include everything from traditional Country to Mainstream. "He's got the rock/country sound of Toby Keith with the looks and charm of Tim McGraw," says New Music Weekly magazine. He also joins female Country singer Kim McAbee who worked with the late Buck Owens for a decade at the famous Crystal Palace for the duet "We Belong Together." The CD includes several strong ballads, and Buck even pays tribute to his favorite rock star with "My Moment With Sheryl Crow".

It will be a very busy summer for Buck as he will be the featured artist at this year's Country Jubilee for Knotts Berry Farm. This fall his "What Might Have Been" will be in the feature film "Moondance Alexander," directed by Michael Damian, starring Lori Loughlin, Kay Panabaker, Don Johnson and Sasha Cohen. The film became a recent "winner" at the Newport Film Festival and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Buck McCoy's first tour will begin in mid-September in and around radio station visits.
