High-end, Cross-country Motoring Event Opens 50 New Slots

Navigator's Run extends an invitation to high-end car drivers and lovers for a 5-day competition across Mid-American Loop
We have drivers as old as 60 and some as young as 21.

Arkansas City, KS (PRWEB) May 24, 2007 -- On June 22, the driver of one of the fastest cars on the planet will be $50,000 richer. That is, of course, if the driver doesn't give a dime to the navigator.

Navigator's Run, one of the biggest cross-country car competitions in the world, pairs together the speed of exotic cars and the intelligence of corner-cutting driving. It isn't the fastest driver that wins, but the two-person team of wheelman and navigator that amass the least miles while crossing all the city checkpoints.

The contest kicks off on June 18 in Kansas City, but the finish line emerges five days later in Wichita, Kansas.

Fifty-plus high-end car owners, each accompanied by a navigator, will hit the brakes after skillfully plotting their routes through Denver, Santa Fe, Dallas, and Las Vegas, stopping every night to refuel their tanks and recharge their bodies. Though there's no reward for speed, the competition embodies life in the fast lane.

Already with an impressive competitor's list, including Ashley Van Dyke - host of racing reality series Setup on the Speed Network - Navigator's Run announced today that they're pushing the playing field to 100 cars - just to make it more interesting. But don't expect NASCAR on I-90; not too many Lamborghini Gallardo owners are willing to risk their prize possession for 50,000 bucks.

"With even more cars, we know contestants are going to push the limits of the road," said Navigator's Run founder Mike Beauchamp, "but the Run tests more than that: it tests smart, direction-conscious driving, and gives car-lovers a chance to show off their goods."

The $5,000 entry-free guarantees participants a chance for the cash prize, the use of top-of-the-line Navigon GPS systems, as well as invitations to the kickoff and finish-line parties and several events along the road.

No matter how impressive the cars may be, you won't see any 'you must be this tall to ride' signs. If you have a license, a car, and the money, you can compete with all the top guns. "Our age range is about 40 years," said Beauchamp. "We have drivers as old as 60 and some as young as 21."

Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a Ferrari FXX, but the laws of the road apply to everyone and a $200 speeding ticket may setback those that feel the need for speed.

But if contestants want to go fast, said Beauchamp, "I won't be able to stop them."
