Will and Determination Drive Davey Hamilton

Davey Hamillton returns to the Indy 500 after battling life threatening injuries. His courage and determination pulled him through the rehabilitation process of reconstructing his feet. His dream was fulfilled when he entered the Indy 500 this past May. His passion for the sport is an inspiration to all.

Stockton, CA (PRWEB) June 1, 2007 -- After 23 surgeries and six years of rehabilitation Davey Hamilton saw his dreams through by driving in this year's Indy 500. Finishing in the top ten was only the icing on the cake.

On June 9, 2001 Hamilton's racing career and life took a drastic change. A horrific crash at Texas Motor Speedway left him in jeopardy of losing both his feet. Amputation seemed to be the only route, but Dr. Kevin Scheid decided to take a chance on rebuilding his shattered feet and ankles. Through major surgeries, physical therapy, and the support of family and friends Hamilton was able to save his feet and walk again. However, his love for racing was not lost.

In 2005 he made the decision to try and go back to the Indy 500. Hamilton's amazing physical comeback and his lovable personality were the driving force to put him back behind the wheel. After two years of courting sponsors to help him get there, Hewlett Packard stepped up to put him back on the track. Vision Racing owner Tony George also saw the determination in Hamilton and was able to provide him with a car.

When the race began Hamilton was 20th on the pole. He was thankful just to be back and taking it all in with a deeper appreciation. His 9th place finish just made the dream that much better.
