The track was built in 1967. It was dormant for several years in the late 1970's and early 1980's until Tommy Black re-opened the track and ran it until it was sold on late 1992 to Royal Jones and Jimmy Ray. 1993 was the first year the track opened as the Southern New Mexico Speedway and is in its 14th year of operation.

Raceway Media continues to establish cross-promotional relationships.
