New Issue of Papierdoll Fashion Magazine Features Interview and Photo Shoot With Fresh, Pop Artist Leah Renee

The July 2007 issue of Papierdoll published an article with pop singer Leah Renee this week and continues to look at fashion through a socio-political lens with a piece on sustainable fashion.

(PRWEB) July 12, 2007 -- Leah Renee agreed to a one-on-one interview with Papierdoll editor-in-chief Michelle Bell. In it, the 21-year-old singer touches on several subjects being asked of her in the media, including her album release date, her battle to break out of being solely known as a television actress and recognized as a legitimate singer, and her work with award winning songwriter Curtis Richardson. The rare interview conducted in New York this past June accompanies "A Day In The Life," a fashion editorial shot by renowned photographer Reka Nyari. While still keeping a majority of her album under wraps, Renee let Papierdoll editors listen to a handful of songs from her upcoming album and addressed her experiences recording in New York.

Bell was surprised at the singer's candor when explaining her vision for this album and where she sees her music going. "I think the thing that impresses me most about Leah is that she is so mature for her age," states Bell. Singing since she was 7 years old, Renee focused her career professionally at the age of 18 and is in the process of releasing her debut album later this year. She has worked with the aforementioned Curtis Richardson, Charlie Vox, and several other prominent songwriters and producers. Renee has also worked on a multitude of television series since she was young; both in front of the camera on Canadian television, also at times, using her distinct sound for voiceovers and most recently on the WB network.

In the second half of the interview feature consisting of a photo story entitled, "A Day in the Life," shot by photographer Reka Nyari and styled by celebrity stylist Johanna Laracuente, the singer appears in a series of New York scenes wearing pieces from premier names in fashion including Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Aurelio Costarella and Rochelle Thwaites. Photographer Reka Nyari states, "I wanted to capture the singer in her natural element, walking around New York City, enjoying the summer weather, wearing fabulously glamorous pieces," she continues, "Leah has a natural beauty and grace that didn't require mounds of makeup or too much post-production, she is as natural as they come."

In addition to the feature with singer Leah Renee, Papierdoll's July issue also features several articles on sustainable fashion and the environmentally conscious designers fully backing the movement.

Writers Caroline Hartmann and Sabah Karimi wrote two articles on the emergence of designers who create pieces that are made to last a long time. Hartmann states, "Sustainable fashion is an idea whose time has come, the Linda Loudermilks and Nicole Bridgers of the world are creating a new type of fashion that is certain to be the de-facto standard in the coming years." The articles focus on designers leading a wave of environmentally friendly causes that seek to reshape the way the fashion industry and world at large view waste and resource misuse. Several photos within the articles highlight the overall direction of these designers and the trend shifts they are making in the fashion industry.

Both the interview and sustainable fashion feature are published in the July 2007 issue of Papierdoll's online fashion magazine. Other features published in this issue include a review of Mary Gehlhar's The Fashion Designer Survival Guide: An Insider's Look at Starting and Running Your Own Fashion Business, look at top summer shoes in retail, a retrospective feature on Christian Dior and a photo story entitled "Deserted" on summer accessories shot by London-based photographer Anne-Marie Michel.
