The X Games, the premier extreme sports event in the world, prides itself on spotlighting the progression of athletics. Academy of Art University also embraces this spirit by continuously providing its students with the cutting edge technology to produce the most innovative work.

The Sims: In the Hands of Artists exemplifies the future of art and design paired with modern technology. Electronic Arts asked students to come up with their own design concepts for The Sims 2 game. Using the game's themes of customization and interchangeability, the students came up with an impressive array of designs and concepts. The diverse entries come from a wide range of departments including Fashion, Animation, the Fine Art School, the Industrial Design School and more.

The Academy believes that athletics is essential to excelling in art and design. The nuances of competition, teamwork and determination expand artistic vision and contribute to a well-rounded education. Under the direction of Dr. Jamie Williams, the Academy of Art University's athletic department is currently on the rise. Dr. Williams, a former NFL player and Superbowl champion, is using his expertise to develop a program that integrates athletics into the arts. An essential component of the program will be the development of a new fitness center, which will include a half-pipe for skateboarders.

The Summer X Games features athletes from all over the world competing for medals and prize money in sports such as BMX Freestyle, Moto X, Skateboard, Surfing and Rally Car Racing. X Games 13 will be telecast live on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC.
