Global Launch of Online Art Gallery RedBubble

Australia's leading online art gallery RedBubble has just expanded its service to artists and art-lovers worldwide.
RedBubble takes the risk and cost out of selling art. We collect the orders, deduct a base price for making products, and send your earnings to you.

(PRWEB) July 20, 2007 -- RedBubble, an online art gallery and creative community, is pleased to announce the launch of its global service on Thursday 19th July 2007.

The global launch represents an important milestone for RedBubble, which first commenced a limited Australian preview in February 2007. Since then about 7,000 members have signed up, 50,000 artworks have been uploaded and thousands of artworks have been purchased.

Co-founders Paul Vanzella, Martin Hosking and Peter Styles started RedBubble to make life easier for artists. Membership of the site is free, artists retain their copyright, set their own prices and choose which products they want to sell.

According to Peter Styles, "RedBubble takes the risk and cost out of selling art. We collect the orders, deduct a base price for making products, and send your earnings to you."

The launch of RedBubble's global service now means that artists everywhere can easily sell their art as framed or mounted prints, designer T-shirts and greeting cards; and art-lovers can choose from a huge range of fresh artwork and have it delivered to their door.

Art available for sale on RedBubble includes photography, digital art, illustration, graphic design and paintings. There is also an active community of writers and poets showcasing their work and adding to the creative vibe.

Wall art on RedBubble typically sells for between US$50 and US$250; greeting cards from US$2.50; and designer T-shirts between US$20 and US$35. The price for a given artwork is set by the artist.

RedBubble ships anywhere in the world at the same highly competitive rate. For example, a $US200 large framed print would cost about US$12 for shipping and handling. Time from order to delivery is typically 10 to 12 days.

Artists set the retail price on their artwork by choosing a percentage mark-up, which is then applied to the RedBubble base price for each product. Some artists set a 20% mark-up, others 200% or more. Importantly, the artist keeps their entire mark-up.

For example, one artist may choose a 50% mark-up, which means a small framed print with a base price of US$72 would retail for US$108. Each sale of this product would earn this artist US$36.

Customers can view prices for all products in US dollars, Euro, pounds sterling or Australian dollars, and artists can choose to receive their earnings in any of these four currencies.
