'Hunting The American Terrorist' and 'National Geographic' Connect; Terrorism Book Lends Insight to Forthcoming Television Documentary
Landmark book on domestic terrorism and authors used by National Geographic for forhcoming television documentary on American terrorism.
(PRWEB) July 25, 2007 -- The most notorious domestic terrorist - considered by many to be the most brilliant terrorist in the one hundred year history of the FBI - will be the subject of a forthcoming one-hour "National Geographic" television documentary.
Terry D. Turchie and Dr. Kathleen M. Puckett, the FBI's Unit Director and the Unit's Clinical Psychologist respectively, who pursued Ted Kaczynski, the notorious Unabomber, were interviewed on camera for seven hours on Friday, July 20th. The crew of Winton/DuPont Films, the production company shooting for "National Geographic," set up in Turchie's Danville California office. Using Turchie's and Puckett's forthcoming book "Hunting The American Terrorist" as the reference point, the interviewer brought to light the dramatic story- behind- the- story of Ted Kaczynski's capture, revealing for the first time, unprecedented investigative techniques and behavioral analysis that led to the capture of the notorious terrorist.
A concentrated focus in the interview was also made on the previously unpublished and recently declassified FBI Report on the psychological mind-set of ten American terrorists that included Kaczynski, Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph.
Terry D. Turchie, co-author of Hunting The American Terrorist, was brought in from FBI Counterintelligence to head up the pursuit of the Unabomber after the FBI and various Federal and local law enforcement agencies experienced sixteen years of dead-ends. His approach brought Kaczynski to justice in just twenty four months. He also led the drive that resulted in the capture of Eric Rudolph and prior to Sept. 11th, pursued Osama Bin Laden into the heart of Pakistan. He is one of the few recipients of the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service in both counterintelligence and counterterrorism. He recently retired from the FBI.
Dr. Kathleen M. Puckett spent 23 years as an FBI Special Agent in cases involving foreign counterintelligence and domestic and international terrorism. She was a founding member of the FBI National Security Division's Behavioral Analysis Program (BAP), and was the primary behavioral expert during the UNABOM investigation She also assisted Turchie in the investigation of Eric Rudolph in North Carolina in 1998. She received the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service the same year. Dr. Puckett conducted a multi-jurisdictional risk assessment study concerning lone domestic terrorists including Theodore Kaczynski, Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph for the Counterterrorism Division of the FBI in 2001. She has recently retired from the FBI.
