Video Website Puts Clarksville, TN On The Map - 5th Largest City In Tennessee Is No Longer In Shadows

Video website sheds obscurity for Tennessee city.

Clarksville, TN (PRWEB) August 8, 2007 -- No longer the red-headed stepchild of Tennessee cities, Clarksville, TN is emerging as one of the most progressive destinations in the South. This is being made apparent to travelers who are on a personal quest to find interesting and unique places which somehow have managed to stay under the radar for southern tourists and even most Tennesseans.

TVClarksville.com came online in January 2007 and has changed the media landscape of Clarksville, which was once thought of as a military town with little or no potential. Receiving thousands of hits on the internet, TVClarksville.com has exposed a beautiful and progressive city on the historic Cumberland River.

"We are no longer a secret", said Gary Baker, creator of TVClarksville.com, "People all over the world are discovering Clarksville as an exciting destination for the whole family. I would say our attraction, other than Fort Campbell, Dunbar Cave and Austin Peay State University, is probably our music."

Clarksville, located 45 minutes from Nashville, borders the Fort Campbell military installation, home of the 101st Airborne Division and is the official home of the Tennessee Old Time Fiddler's Contest, an annual event which draws thousands of musicians to the area.

"Nashville has country music," Baker continued, " and Memphis has the blues. Clarksville is known for having some of the best fiddlers in the world." He laughs and says, " If you like to pat your foot to a lively fiddle tune, put on your dancing clogs, hitch up the mules or RV, and head them to Clarksville."

Hank Bonecutter, owner of the local radio station, 1400AM WJZM said, "This website (tvclarksville.com) has blown the doors off our obscurity as a southern city. I never dreamed that our city's image could be exposed so quickly as the news is traveling like wildfire to tourists and musicians around the world."

The mayor of Clarksville, Johnny Piper said in a recent interview, " The internet is one of the opportunities in promoting Clarksville we have not taken advantage of." TVClarksvlle.com gives Clarksville a fantastic venue for spreading the word about all the wonderful things like the Civil War era Fort Defiance, RiverFest on the Cumberland, and the Rivers and Spires Festival that people have been unaware. Those are just a few of the places and events that are getting Clarksville all the attention.

Baker said, "We are excited to offer online videos about our people and community on www.tvclarksville.com. We want people to come and see us, listen to our music and feel the wonder of the area. Just like the guy said, we've got the welcome mat out and the porch light on."
