Abilene Christian University Medical Center Educates Patients with EMR From PracticeIT

PracticeIT announces partnership with Abilene Christian University.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 13, 2007 -- PracticeIT, a physician-centric healthcare IT company specializing in electronic medical records (EMR) and handheld diagnostic devices, today announced it will provide the medical clinic of Abilene Christian University's (ACU) with its full suite EMR solution and service support.

With PracticeIT's technology, ACU will be able to educate students on more than 250 health conditions through its interactive 3-D patient education module and handouts. The EMR system will also allow the University to work directly with insurance companies, no longer requiring students to keep track of receipts, payments and reimbursements.

PracticeIT's EMR will not only free up office space by eliminating reliance on paper, it will also help simplify our office operations and provide better service to students
"Patient education is very valuable for our student patients," said Tony Rector, DO, ACU's board-certified family physician. "Through visual models, I can help students better understand their conditions and healthcare options during visits and provide them printed handouts to take home and share with their parents. In addition, my dictations are automatically updated in the patient's electronic record during the demonstration, eliminating extra administrative steps and keeping the patient's information secure."

In addition to patient education, PracticeIT's full EMR solution facilitates appointment scheduling, billing and ordering of prescriptions as well as keeping patient records more accurate and secure. PracticeIT's EMR solution is also backed by its personal physician support services, which includes training, implementation and other ongoing support.

"PracticeIT's EMR will not only free up office space by eliminating reliance on paper, it will also help simplify our office operations and provide better service to students," said Kathy Stokes, office manger at ACU student medical clinic. ACU's medical clinic serves more than 4,700 students and consists of Dr. Rector, two part-time nurse practitioners, two registered nurses and administrative staff.

"PracticeIT is dedicated to helping ACU build a more efficient clinical practice with EMR technology," said PracticeIT CEO Bob Teague, MD. "PracticeIT's EMR solution will make information more readily available for staff, educate students and enable Dr. Rector to focus on providing the best patient care possible."
