Fast-Paced Mystery Features Beautiful Journalist Caught in Deadly Conspiracy

Allan McLeod's new book "The Praetorian File" is a suspense-packed story about a brainy former model, who unexpectedly finds herself in a nasty life-or-death scheme.

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 20, 2007 -- Glamorous, international free-lance journalist Paige Harrington certainly goes above and beyond the call of duty. She dodges death, solves the murder of an acclaimed scientist and exposes the operations of an evil corporation in an adventure that all began with a magazine article. As the star of Allan McLeod's latest novel, "The Praetorian File" (ISBN 9780615150666, Duchess Publishing, 2007), Paige brings readers along on a high-class journey that's filled with both style and substance.

"The Praetorian File" is the second book in McLeod's acclaimed "Paige Harrington Mystery Series." Paige is the kind of woman women want to be, and the type of woman in whose company men want to be. She's smart, gutsy and never shies from a challenge. Her smashing good looks even landed her a two-year modeling contract before she began her journalism career with a degree from Columbia University.

"The Praetorian File" begins when a powerhouse women's magazine hires Paige to write a story about Jenny Ross, a bright young scientist who has created thinking robots. But the day before Paige's interview, Jenny is murdered. Immediately, Paige's journalistic instincts kick in, and she becomes determined to find out who killed Jenny and what secrets lay behind their motive.

Before she has a chance to investigate much further, a young woman contacts Paige and offers insight to Jenny's murder along with information that could destroy a number of powerful people. Paige learns that a corrupt investor group known as Praetorian murdered Jenny, but two days later, Paige's contact also turns up near death, in a hospital emergency room.

A thrilling, fast-paced read, "The Praetorian File" keeps readers on the edge of their seats when Paige learns that getting to the bottom of this twisted scheme will endanger the lives of those around her. As Praetorian closes in, Paige doesn't know who she can trust, or where to turn for help, so she courageously steps out and places her own life on the line to solve the sinister mystery of "The Praetorian File."
