Using this technology, NPR.org now can push relevant content, including news alerts, to its online users. The news application can be configured to deliver and display news feeds in three familiar formats: a desktop ticker, desktop alerts and inside a feed browser. Skinkers provides a simple way to push and manage news feeds (RSS) with this user-friendly desktop application. Users can decide what kind of news will be transmitted through which desktop delivery channel, alert, ticker or browser. In addition, users can add RSS feeds from other websites. The alerts are delivered directly to the desktop in text and pictures, displaying in front off all other open applications.
