Statistical Research Inc. Awarded Fort Bliss Contracts

Statistical Research Inc. has been awarded contracts to provide archaeological and historic architectural services to Fort Bliss, Texas.

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) September 26, 2007 -- Statistical Research Inc. (SRI) was awarded a contract to provide archaeological services to the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Fort Bliss, Texas. These services are necessary because various environmental-compliance laws and military regulations require the consideration of historical properties on military lands. SRI and team members Four Corners Research in Tularosa, New Mexico, and MIRATEK in El Paso, Texas, will provide a broad range of archaeological services at Fort Bliss as the base adds more troops over the next five years.

In addition to receiving the archaeological services contract, SRI is part of a team headed by MIRATEK that was awarded a contract to assist the installation with the management of its historic architecture. SRI was selected as a team member because of the company's expertise with Cold War-era resources.

SRI is a privately held international heritage-management firm with a long history of supporting the U.S. Department of Defense in its cultural-resource and environmental missions at home and abroad. The firm is a leader in the development and application of technology to improve the quality of historic preservation while reducing the cost and time of compliance. Albuquerque Office Director Robert Heckman stated: "SRI is extremely pleased to be able to support Fort Bliss in its mission. The Fort has a history of innovation in heritage management, and we look forward to helping its management programs reach new levels of excellence."

Fort Bliss encompasses approximately 1.2 million acres, primarily in New Mexico, and supports diverse military training activities. Founded in 1848 as an infantry and cavalry post, it became the center of antiaircraft artillery training in 1942. Today the fort is a multi-functional installation that supports all branches of the Department of Defense as well as other federal agencies. In 2005, Fort Bliss began a transformation from a training installation into a major mounted-maneuver training post. By 2011, the Fort is expected to triple in size and accommodate more than 46,000 soldiers, family members, and civilian personnel.

Fort Bliss is a clear leader among military installations in managing cultural resources and facilitating the Army's mission. This leadership is reflected in the proactive, award-winning approach that Fort Bliss has taken with respect to cultural resources on the base. The U.S. Air Defense Artillery Center and Fort Bliss were awarded the prestigious Secretary of Defense FY 2000 Environmental Security Award for the Fort's cultural resource management program.
