Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) January 16, 2008 -- Tempe Convention and Visitors Bureau (www.tempecvb.com) prepares to welcome fans to Tempe, Arizona January 28 through February 3 as two of the largest sporting events take place over the same time period -- Super Bowl XLII and the FBR Open.

The FBR Open is a legendary tournament on the PGA Tour, known for some of the largest crowds, incredible golfers and great views. The FBR Open will take place January 28-February 3, 2008 at the TPC Scottsdale.

Super Bowl XLII is expected to reach 1 billion football fans worldwide on February 3, 2008. The game will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium, located 35 minutes west of Tempe in the city of Glendale.

In 1996, Tempe, Arizona hosted Super Bowl XXX at Sun Devil Stadium. While Tempe is not playing host this year to Super Bowl XLII, the city is rolling out the red carpet to welcome football and golf fans looking to enjoy the warm Arizona sunshine.

Tempe, Arizona's Mill Avenue District is full of life any time of day, any day of the week, making it a magnet for visiting sports fans. This pedestrian-friendly Tempe entertainment destination offers more than 100 shops, restaurants and entertainment venues located between Arizona State University and Tempe Town Lake.

Popular Tempe entertainment venues also include Tempe Marketplace and Arizona Mills. Tempe Marketplace has 1.3 million square feet of shops, restaurants, entertainment and live music. Arizona Mills houses over 175 popular name-brand stores, all offering discount prices, GameWorks and an IMAX Theatre.

In addition, sports fans won't want to miss Super Bowl Saturday Night, a free concert on February 2 at Tempe Beach Park from 6-10 p.m. and the 17th annual NFL Experience. The NFL Experience will be held immediately west of the stadium, January 26-Feburary 2 (open February 3 for game ticket holders only).
