In the quest for the Democratic nomination for President, Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama square off in personal, first-person appeals to Texas Democratic primary voters in the upcoming February 22 issue of The Texas Observer.
The Senators from Illinois and New York talk about their ties to Texas, personally and philosophically, and why each thinks he/she is the right candidate at the right time in the right state.
The Texas Observer provides additional coverage of the first Texas presidential primary in a generation that will impact national politics. The Observer explains the complicated and arcane process (involving a primary, caucuses, and powerbrokers called Superdelegates) of allocating delegates to the National Democratic Convention.
There will be reports on the Hispanic vote and the generational divide, as well as an analysis by our sometimes-critic, Republican activist Royal Masset, of the scenario for the Republican primary. It is not likely to alter the fact that Senator John McCain is virtually assured the Republican nomination.
