According to the report, Best-in-Class companies save an average of 38 percent in legal discovery costs over the course of a lawsuit. The benefits extend further, with 91 percent of those companies reporting that they avoided paying fines or losing legal proceedings as a result of their e-Discovery processes.
“Company litigation risks for email have increased dramatically as a result of new government regulations such as the December 2006 Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) amendment,” said Ralph A. Despite the clear benefits involved with having a solid process for e-discovery, the study also noted that more than half (59 %) of respondents have no e-discovery strategy in place. This finding illustrates the lack of priority e-discovery is taking in the majority of organizations.
