Novato, CA (PRWEB) May 13, 2008 -- Brayton Purcell is proud to be a sponsor of the "Breath of Fresh Air" Luncheon - a fundraising event benefitting the American Lung Association put on by The Women's Lung Health Initiative. This informative event is held to honor individuals who are actively involved with women's lung health issues. It also helps to raise awareness within the community on the issues faced by women regarding lung health, and what can be done to make a difference. Currently, it is estimated that women are twice as likely than men to be diagnosed with cancer and a higher proportion of women are seriously affected by lung disease.
The "Breath of Fresh Air" Luncheon takes place Tuesday, May 13, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the San Francisco Hilton. Distinguished guests include award-winning journalist Belva Davis as Honorary Chairwoman; KKSF radio personality, Miranda Wilson as Mistress of Ceremony; and, UCSF research physician Esteban Burchard, M.D. as one of the guest speakers. Dr. Burchard's research focuses on identifying risk factors, both genetic and environmental, that may lead to asthma. American Lung Association of California Board President Gwendolyn Young will also be a guest speaker, and renowned sociologist, Bertice Berry, Ph.D., will be the key note speaker. Honorees include Lana Hilling, RCP, FAACVPR, who is the John Muir Health coordinator of lung health services and a pulmonary rehabilitation expert, and Angela Alioto, an attorney and civil activist, who has served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
