Orion Health Responds to Industry Need for Simplified Access to Critical Health Data in Meditech HIS Systems; Whitepaper Now Available

Hospitals and clinics choose Meditech information systems for their proven ability to handle data securely and provide complete assurance that clinical data is not lost. But this very strength makes it difficult to share data outside the Meditech system. Orion Health's solutions use a set of standard data definitions that allow medical institutions to extract data from Meditech systems, including Magic 32, using standard, easy-to-configure, direct connection methodology. Through Rhapsody Integration Engine and Concerto Physician Portal, Meditech systems can begin to exchange data bi-directionally with user-friendly front-end systems.

Dallas TX (PRWEB) May 28, 2008 -- Orion Health, a leading provider of clinical workflow and integration technology for the healthcare sector, today made available at the 2008 International MUSE conference, a whitepaper outlining solutions for healthcare providers to access critical data stored in Meditech systems using Orion Health's Rhapsody Integration Engine and Concerto Physician Portal solutions.

It's not practical today to expect health data to remain within individual silos
Hospitals and clinics choose Meditech information systems for their proven ability to handle data securely and provide complete assurance that clinical data is not lost. But this very strength makes it difficult to share data outside the Meditech system.

"It's not practical today to expect health data to remain within individual silos," said John Lightfoot, Chief Technology Officer, Orion Health North America.

Recognized for its leadership in integrating complex health data systems, Orion Health has developed two solutions for integrating data from all Meditech systems.

1.) A comprehensive interface between Meditech and Rhapsody Integration Engine which enables access to all Meditech data and can be extended to other systems.

2.) Using Meditech's native reporting mechanism to export information to Concerto Physician Portal via a datamart.

Lightfoot continues, "Hospitals must share information with other healthcare providers and interdepartmentally to be assured clinicians are presented with a unified, longitudinal view of health data. Traditionally, this has been very difficult with Meditech systems. Rhapsody and Concerto present the opportunity to undertake this integration easily without exorbitant costs or a drain on resources."
