Easthampton, MA (PRWEB) January 2, 2008 -- The Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley is pleased to announce its classes, sittings and retreats for the first half of 2008. Insight PV serves Western Massachusetts from its relaxed meditation hall at Eastworks in Easthampton, MA. Attendees learn how to apply Buddhist wisdom to their daily lives in the modern world, easing suffering and learning how to act with greater skill and compassion.

Guiding teacher Rebecca Bradshaw leads the first class of the year, "Power of Mindfulness to Heal & Free Us". This class meets on Monday evenings from January 7-21 and February 4-25. "Meeting our thoughts and emotions with awareness and kindness," says Bradshaw, "gives us the freedom to suffer less and open more to the amazing display of our lives."

gives us the freedom to suffer less and open more to the amazing display of our lives.
Bradshaw and founding teacher Arinna Weisman will lead a three-day weekend retreat in North Amherst, February 15-17. Weisman is returning from a two-year journey of thousands of miles through Buddhist monasteries in England, Europe and Australia. The weekend retreat is non-residential but does require pre-registration at http://www.insightpv.org/insightpv_events.html

Adi Bemak will lead a Tuesday evening class, "Finding Ease In Everyday Life", from March 11-April 15. Participants will be invited to experience stillness and insight in a supportive environment. Classes will include guided meditations and time for discussion. Bemak will also lead a Saturday morning retreat for parents and friends of parents on May 17: "Mindfulness and the Ups and Downs of Parenting: A Daily Practice". "Bring your frustrations and your joys," says Bemak, "while continuing to cultivate ease in the busyness of daily life."

On Saturday, July 26, Amita Schmidt will lead a full-day retreat entitled "Meditation Practices for Depression". A similar retreat was one of our most popular last year--an audio recording of it can be downloaded at no charge at http://www.insightpv.org/insightpv_talks.html

This is just a small sample of this year's events at Insight PV, which include open sittings on Monday and Wednesday evenings, a new film series on Buddhist themes and a "Sit-a-thon" on March 29.

All classes and retreats are offered on a "suggested donation" basis. No one will be turned away from any event for lack of funds. Our Eastworks facility is wheelchair accessible. For the comfort of chemically sensitive individuals, no incense is used at our events. For complete information, please visit our website at http://www.insightpv.org/
