Want to Be More Eco-Friendly in 2008? Start With That Britney CD Grandma Gave You, By Trading It On Swaptree for Something You Want

Now that the season of giving has passed and the season of returning is upon us, Swaptree.com is the perfect site to exchange and recycle that book, CD, DVD or video game you received as a gift, for something that you actually want for free.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) January 2, 2008 -- Swaptree.com (http://www.swaptree.com), the innovative website that allows members to trade books, CDs, DVDs and video games with other users for free, encourages people who received a media item that they don't want, to trade it for items that they do want, for free.

"Instead of just throwing unwanted gifts to the back of the closet, now with Swaptree, you can trade that book, CD, DVD or video game, with another Swaptree user," explained Mark Hexamer, Vice-President of Marketing for Swaptree.

"For example, this Christmas, my mother-in-law gave me the book "A Thousand Splendid Suns". It's a great book, the problem is I have already read it. In the past, it would have just collected dust on my shelf, however, now I just put it up for trade on Swaptree and I was instantly able to choose from over 17,000 DVDs, CDs, video games and books that I could receive for it. I am trading it for the latest CD by Wilco, "Sky Blue Sky", for free," commented Hexamer.

To use Swaptree, users simply list the items that they have to trade and the items that they want to receive, and Swaptree's two and three-way trade algorithms instantly show the user all of the items that they can receive for the items that they have.

The service is completely free, and users only pay for the shipping of their item. Swaptree also simplifies the mailing process by allowing users to print a postage label on their regular printer, which means that users don't have to weigh items, worry about stamps or even go to the post office. And of course, in addition to saving money, users who are trying to be more environmentally conscious appreciate the fact that Swaptree reduces consumption by promoting sharing and recycling.

Hexamer gave an example, "In two weeks, when my son grows tired of the $55 video game that I gave him as a gift, I can recycle it for another game that he wants, for just the cost of shipping. Swaptree is a great site for anyone whose New Year's resolution was to have a smaller environmental footprint. Saving money, getting the media you want and helping to reduce consumption, what could be better?"
